If he didn’t know he was getting in bed with these squirrel nuts years ago, if he didn’t realize when he was humping Bush’s leg that these were the people keeping his heroic preznit and his party in power, if he couldn’t figure out from the screams coming from the basement that his empire was built on the human equivalent of rabid circus animals, then he is so criminally stupid he should be institutionalized for his own safety.
And if he did realize? Which he almost assuredly did? Fuck him, he gets what he gets.
Some of the Republican leadership like Jim DeMint, I think did play a very hard-line role.Some of our leaders were trapped. They were trapped byvoices in the media that revved the Republican base into a frenzy that made dealing impossible. I mean, you can’t negotiate with Adolf Hitler, andif the President is Adolf Hitler, then obviously you can’t negotiate with him. Sosome of the blame has got to go to those who said, who got the psychology of the party to a point where a lot of good people, reasonable people were trapped.
NO THEY WEREN’T. If they were good, reasonable people, all they had to do was refuse to listen to those voices in the media that made dealinginconvenient, and do as they pleased. Would their teabag base have been mad at them? Yeah. Sure. SO WHAT? Nobody held a gun to the head of John Boehner and made him a total idiot. He made the choice to do that all on his own. It is time to stop giving political cowardice a pass by pretending it’s an actual thing. Nobody strapped him to a table.
Lamar Alexander can whine all day long about how it was Rush Limbaugh that made him be a pussy; he still has agency as an adult human being and as a white dude ain’t much stopping him from doing whatever the fuck he wants in America today. If any of the centrist, reasonable dudes Frum feels so sorry for wanted to be centrist and reasonable, all they had to do was go do that.
I mean, I live a pretty happy life ignoring the fuck out of Hannity and Beck; it can’t be that hard to do.
