I am so over the Super Bowl host city shit. The sky is full of noisy helicopters leading to complaints of PTSD by some Katrina veterans. We have security up the wazoo, which has led to traffic up the wazoo. Our wazoos are overloaded, y’all.
It will get noisier on game day when President Pennywise pauses wrecking the economy to attend the game. I’m counting on some Eagles fans to boo the stupid son of a bitch. It’s what they do best.
I’m following the example of my late friend Michael Homan and growing a protest beard. That was his response to Trump Regime Mach-One. I’m not sure how long the beard will last. In the past, I’ve shaved off nascent beards when they got itchy. Homan was made of sterner as well as sillier stuff and let his freak beard fly or some such shit.
Don’t ask for pictures: I haven’t liked a picture of myself in decades. I have, however, lost 40 pounds in the last 6 months. End of health related humble brag.
This week’s theme song has a complicated history. It was written by Wilbert Harrison in 1962 as Let’s Stick Together but it was recorded as Let’s Work Together by the songwriter, among others. I prefer work to stick hence that version going first on the Adrastos virtual jukebox.
We have three versions of Let’s Work Together for your listening pleasure this week: Wilbert Harrison, Canned Heat, and Dwight Yoakam followed by Bryan Ferry bringing the Stick.
I’m about to contradict myself with this bit of Ira Gershwin inspired doggerel: You say work together. I say stick together. Let’s call the whole thing off with Bryan Ferry:
While we’re luxuriating in togetherness two more songs featuring the T word:
Are you happy now? We begin our second act by skipping it altogether. I almost shared some depressing articles about MAGA madness but it’s the weekend and we need a break from that shit. The stupidity, it burns.
I’m dedicating the last word of our non-existent second act to Trump voters. It goes to Aimee Mann:
We begin our third act with our favorite stolen feature.
Separated At Birth Casting Edition: I name dropped Albert Einstein the other day. Here’s a photo montage of 8 actors who have played that great and good man.
This segment comes complete with a quiz, which could have been called Name That Einstein but is not. Some people have no imagination.
I got 6 out of 8 on Einstein pop quiz. Not great but not too bad either. Faces beg to differ:
Your Weekly Oscar: We return to our work theme with this collaboration between OP and MJQ’s Milt Jackson. Milt always brought good vibes.
Have I told you lately how much I love Oscar Peterson?
Here’s another work song for the road or some shit:
The Best Of SCTV: Sammy Maudlin was a sleazy talk show host created by Eugene Levy. In this sketch he hosts Dave Thomas as Bob Hope. If you’ve never seen Thomas do Hope, you’re in for a treat.
Saturday GIF Horse: Let’s hit the Road To Morocco with Hope and Crosby.
Skeet Shot: This week, some acrid political commentary by a Canadian cartoonist. It’s gross but totally accurate.

Let’s close down this virtual honky tonk with some more music.
Saturday Closer: I haven’t posted a soundie in quite some time. This one features Gene Krupa’s big band as well as some snappy patter between Anita O’Day and trumpet deity Roy Eldridge.
That’s all for this week. The last word goes to Albert Einstein:
