I find social media exhausting these days. Many lefty users employ Trumpian tactics of bluster and bullshit to make their point. All it does it make the poster look stupid and downright hysterical. There’s no need to exaggerate the awfulness of MAGA: The facts suffice to brand them as dangerous fascists and incompetent idiots.
I prefer to let the dust settle instead of issuing doomy and gloomy hot takes. Things are often NOT what they seem, especially in MAGA world.
Shorter Adrastos: Enough with the Chicken Littling.
The reaction to the Insult Comedian’s fact-free speech last week displayed hot takes at their most tendentious. Trump banged on about election fraud and lied about his 2020 defeat. That led many to talk about his “plan” to take over the midterm election. The words plan and Trump don’t belong in the same sentence. As always, he was flooding the zone with shit to cause fear and uncertainty among his opponents. That’s why I call him the Kaiser of Chaos.
Instead of being a call to action, Trump’s BIG LIE speech bombed. The reaction from Congressional Republicans was silence. They may refuse to acknowledge that Trump lost the presidency in 2020 but they want their dear leader to talk about something that’s relevant to the lives of voters, not the Trumpian cry of ME, ME, ME.
The only supportive reaction to this fakakta speech came from the new MIC (Moron In Charge) at Homeland Security. Mullin made empty threats to arrest state officials for not turning over voter rolls without specifying what law they violated. Why? There is no such law: Federal involvement in the election process is minimal by design. States run elections well and honestly for the most part.
Here’s the deal: GOP ratfucking is as old as the proverbial hills. The term ratfucking oozed out of the Watergate muck and attempts at voter suppression are to be expected and combatted. They don’t appear thus far to have come up with anything remotely resembling a systematic plan.
Repeat after me: It’s the execution, stupid.
What has Team Trump done to give anyone the idea that they can pull of the sort of massive election theft required to flip the midterm election? These are the fuck ups who gave us the war with Iran and took a wrecking ball to the booming economy they inherited from Team Biden. Incompetence is a feature of MAGA, not a bug.
Another example of hot takes gone wrong involves the subpoenas issued to New York Times reporters over the insecure Qatari 747. The hot take crowd claimed it was the end of the free press and democracy itself. They were wrong. The “investigation” was initiated in haste and it’s already collapsing from the weight of gross MAGA incompetence. Kash Patel and Todd Blanche may want to destroy free speech but they lack the competence to make it so.
Repeat after me: MAGA is a fucked up movement of fuck ups who turn everything to shit.
I remain surprised that anyone takes anything said by the Insult Comedian and his lackeys literally. They lie so often that they can’t keep the lies straight. They can’t even organize a fake state fair or build a stage that won’t fall apart.
Lying is the only thing Team MAGA is good at. We should take comfort in their incompetence. They’re running the government like a Trump business, which means bankruptcy and fraud. They may want to steal the 2026 election, but they lack the basic competence to pull it off, especially now that the wheels are coming off the MAGA clown car. One could even say the wheels are on fire.
