Friday Cat Blogging: Reading Headlines To Buddy

Story Here

Though I like what the Miami Herald wrote about the guy who went off on a Starbucks employee which started this dumbassery. Lead line:

David Sanguesa said he was having a bad day.

Previous bad days: the one in 2008 when he was arrested on a DUI charge. The one a week later when he was again charged with DUI. And the day in 2014 when he was charged with domestic violence, which was later dropped. And there were all those days, going back years, when he emailed the Miami Herald with rants against Cubans, women, immigrants, gays and lesbians, President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Mic Drop Miami Herald!

So now Murika is protesting Starbucks by buying Starbucks, all for the guy known to basically be THAT guy in Miami regularly howling at the moon.

Buddy weeps….

(Buddy is a she and adopted from a shelter)

Hate knows no borders

I wanted to take a break from US news, so I checked out what’s going on in Canada only to find our nightmare becoming theirs as well. In an editorial from the Toronto Star, on the appointment of Steve Bannon, we learn this:

The message Trump is sending has implications beyond the United States. The bigotry let loose by his campaign knows no borders. Several posters popped up in Toronto this week calling on white people “sick of being blamed for all the world’s problems” to join the alt-right movement. On Monday, an Ottawa rabbi woke up to find an anti-Semitic slur and a swastika spray-painted on her front door. In another part of the city, a school was defaced with the Nazi insignia and the letters “KKK.”

The concluding paragraph:

That’s the dangerous result of Trump’s campaign, which unleashed and legitimized racism, misogyny, homophobia and anti-Semitism south of the border and, to some still-unknown extent, here, too. By offering Bannon a prominent post in his administration the president-elect has sent a clear signal that hate will remain on the agenda. It’s the alt-right’s dream come true. For the rest of us, it’s a nightmare.

And so begins our long international nightmare

Your Cabinetmaking Is Killing My Irony

The Hill reports that former Texas Governor is being considered for  Energy Secretary and reminds us of Perry’s Oops moment

During a presidential debate in 2011, Perry forgot the Energy Department as he tried to list the three agencies that he pledged to eliminate as president.

“It’s three agencies of government when I get there that are gone: commerce, education, and the uh … what’s the third one, there? Let’s see… The third one. I can’t,” he said, adding “Oops.”

Pardon me, I’m stuck between alts

I know I said I was back but now I can’t find the words. But that was a sentence.  Given my one word vocabulary (fuck) on Wednesday and 2 word vocabulary (fuck me) on Thursday, I am making progress. I wrote a to do list today. 1) Read as much as possible to understand what happened. 2) Get your passport renewed just in case. That’s as far as I got.

I combed Twitter and did find links to interesting analysis articles. Well a few at least. Twitter is a mess for the most part. That is except for the alt-R and alt-L. I gleaned the alt-R won it for Trump and alt-L could have won, but Hillary. Such certainty. I don’t have it. I’m somewhere stuck between alts just left to suck on it.

And surprisingly I’m ok with that. I know I’m not alone. In fact I think I’m in the good company of people working very hard to try to understand what happened and what to do next. I do know this. There is not one answer, or 2 or 3. We have some tough work ahead. We will have to deal with the most regressive legislation we’ve probably seen in our lifetimes. We must stand up for and support those under attack. And here I am not just talking about writing. Or tweeting. There are people being verbally and physically assaulted. My body, your body may be the only thing standing in their  defense from assault.

Be Strong. Be gentle.

Get up

(Seriously hit that link. That’s Strong. That’s Gentle)

I’m Baaaack!

I was having a really nice life, chilling in the woods, taking photos of birds the past few years and then this guy hits my backyard:

And he’s not leaving soon enough so I need you folks. We all need one another right now.

I’ll have more to say in future posts but today my vocabulary seems to be limited to One word:

There goes the neighborhood
