Today on Tommy T’s Obsession with the Freeperati – STFU edition

A quickie this week.

My boss told me to shut up about Trump so I plan to wear RED all next week during Impeachment Trial.

Posted on 1/19/2020, 1:10:25 PM by SoFloFreeper

I cannot go into details because I don’t want to harm the innocent parties involved, but here is the basic true story:

My workplace is exceedingly liberal. A few conservatives, but we’re outnumbered. I don’t hide my views, but I also don’t get in fights with others. Honestly.

Seven or eight months ago, maybe longer, I was told my comments offended people and could get me fired. I asked what the specific comments were, and no one could tell me. The response was basically “We all have heard you say things…”

A few days into the new year, I was again read the riot act, told that if I offend anyone else I will lose my job. One of the bosses (there were two) told me not to even talk about the weather or sports. Only work related words should be coming out of my mouth.

I told them I have been very careful about using any language that could be construed as offensive. I asked again for what exactly was my offense. No one could give me a quote.

So, I am doing my best to watch out. I am a good employee and have been that a long time.

What I think I’ll do this week is wear RED (not a hat of course LOL) during my work hours. The red will be in solidarity with MAGA. I will do my best to remain quiet.

*******

By the way, I’d appreciate your prayers. Feels sometimes like there are traps being set for me.I also think God may be teaching ME about humility. I need to honor my supervisor even when I think they’re putting unfairness upon me. Such a posture would show trust that my Creator is able to take care of my situation. I wouldn’t be relying on my own intellect or value, but on HIM.

Today on Tommy T’s Obsession with the Freeperati – “long slow demise of FR” edition

Not much of a post this week, I’m afraid. Lower back nerve issues are intensifying, and after getting an MRI to determine what they’re going to have to cut out of my spine, I just found out my neurosurgeon is no longer in my insurance network. While I frantically try to find a new one, I’m trying to strike a balance between taking so much pain medication I can’t make coherent sentences (like I ever did, anyway), and shrieking like a demon at unpredictable moments and scaring the P-waddly-shit out of Barbara.

Turning over while asleep also produces interesting and startling results.

This is one issue of note in Freeperville however:

Just got a thread pulled and the reason the moderator stated was “the usual”. The posting was from The NY Post today about a woman who was having a seizure and got mauled to death by the family dog. Not sure why this isn’t news worthy or has to be censured. I made no comment just posted the artcle. Has FREERepublic also caught the snowflake disease where we cannot discuss bona fide news in a respectful manner so the conversation needs to be shutdown? I respect Free Republic is fully within its rights to shutdown or reject a posting for any reason but is this really how this should have been dealt with?

further evidence we’re witnessing the slow-slow quick death of Free Republic. FR offered a fresh perspective on American news in the 1990’s and 2000’s, and an abundance of articulate, well written conservative posters. Today it’s become a pit stop for self-promoting bloggers, and the remaining handful of old timers (moderators) who can’t grasp what’s happening among the right side of news portal websites. The Liberty Daily, Citizen Free Press, and Dan Bongino seem to be attracting lots of newer, younger supporters to their sites, but we see nothing like that at FR. The original posters frustration is just one cause of this, and asking the fewer and fewer that still come here for 90 thousand in donations every 90 days is another.

Oklahoma police officer gets a Starbucks cup labeled ‘Pig’
NY Post ^ | November 29, 2019 | 3:34am | Joe Tacopino

Posted on 11/29/2019, 7:31:53 AM by conservative98

A police officer in Oklahoma was dismayed when he bought a coffee at the local Starbucks on Thanksgiving and noticed the name on the label was “Pig.”

The chief of police the Kiefer, Okla. said one of his officers trekked to Starbucks to get some java for a dispatcher when he received the insulting label.

“What irks me is the absolute and total disrespect for a police officer who, instead of being home with family and enjoying a meal and a football game, is patrolling his little town,” Chief Johnny O’Mara said in a Facebook post that included an image of the “Pig” coffee cup.

…Trump said Friday that his administration is looking into relaxing water-saving regulations for toilets, sinks and showers, saying consumers end up using even more water by flushing multiple times and trying to get clean with low water streams.

“People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times as opposed to once. They end up using more water,” Trump said while talking with business owners about what he said are ‘’common sense” steps to end overregulation. “The EPA is looking at that very strongly at my suggestion.”

Biden Sides with Foreign Leaders Mocking Trump: ‘The World Is Laughing’
Breitbart ^ | 12/05/2019 | Haris Alic

Joe Biden released a campaign ad Wednesday siding with the foreign leaders caught on camera mocking President Donald Trump at the recent NATO summit.

“The world sees Trump for what he is: insincere, ill-informed, corrupt, dangerously incompetent, and incapable, in my view, of world leadership.” the former vice president says in the one minute ad. “If we give Donald Trump four more years, we’ll have a great deal of difficulty of ever being able to recover America’s standing in the world, and our capacity to bring nations together.”

Worse, my father now seemed to be giving them legitimate reason for concern. My heart sank as he floundered his way through his responses, fumbling with his notes, uncharacteristically lost for words. He looked tired and bewildered.”

Former White House counsel Don McGahn must obey subpoena to testify before Congress, judge rules
NBC News ^ | November 25, 2019 | Pete Williams

Posted on 11/25/2019, 5:15:37 PM by Coronal

WASHINGTON — A federal judge ruled late Monday that former White House counsel Don McGahn must obey a subpoena for his testimony issued by the House Judiciary Committee.

Federal District Court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson said McGahn must appear before Congress but retains the ability to “invoke executive privilege where appropriate” during his appearance. The judge did not put her own ruling on hold, but the Trump administration will likely seek one to put the effect of her ruling on hold while it pursues an appeal.

“It is clear to this Court for the reasons explained above that, with respect to senior-level presidential aides, absolute immunity from compelled congressional process simply does not exist,” Jackson said in her ruling

(Inexplicably left out of the above excerpt by the poster, for some reason 🙂

Judge Jackson also explicitly said the president “does not have the power” to stop his aides from responding to subpoenas from Congress – adding that “presidents are not kings”.

TRUMP MADE UNEXPECTED HOSPITAL VISIT TO TEST FOR INTENTIONAL POISONING
Infowars ^ | 11/18/19

Posted on 11/18/2019, 11:12:23 AM by Enlightened1

Food tester was first rushed to hospital, and doctors believe there was exposure to time-delayed poison

An inside source says President Trump’s food taster became ill after ingesting an unnamed substance, which is why the president made a surprise hospital visit on Saturday.

In an official statement, the White House said President Trump visited the Walter Reed Military Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, for  a “quick exam and labs.”

The hospital visit was not listed on the president’s public schedule, according to media outlets which indicated that the visit was not a routine physical exam.

Additionally, the inside source said his food taster was rushed to the facility after becoming extremely ill.

Doctors and staff reportedly found the byproduct of a type of toxin that’s very hard to detect and has a time-delayed onset of symptoms.

The president was later taken to the same facility where a battery of tests were performed to assess whether he had ingested the same toxin.

There’s an ongoing investigation into the matter.

White House sources have confided to Alex Jones that there’s been other poisoning attempts against the president in the past. We’re going to break down this live on air while also analyzing other components of the Deep State coup.

Despite the fact that this news broke over the weekend, there’s hardly any coverage regarding the fact that the president made a very rare, unexpected visit to a medical center.

Historically, time-delayed poisons were popular with assassins due to their ability to get past food tasters and other chemical tests that are done on food before it’s eaten.

Powerful leaders were routinely drugged or poisoned throughout the ages.

The president isn’t showing any outward signs of being sick, but he was put though a battery of tests as a precaution.

In audio first put online by right-wing pundit and provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos on Saturday, white nationalist Richard Spencer can allegedly be heard ranting about Jewish people and mixed-race people.

The audio — purportedly from an emergency meeting that took place on August 13, 2017, the day after the far-right “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, disintegrated into violence, resulting in the murder of a counterprotester named Heather Heyer — features Spencer screaming racist and anti-Semitic slurs he has generally avoided using in public in an effort to more politely argue for “the creation of a White Ethno-State.”

George Soros’ $$ contributed to the win in VA tonight.20 years ago, I wanted to move to formerly ‘Red’ Virginia to escape the high taxes and socialism of The People’s Republik of Connecticut (where we’re still stuck). That’s gone forever… Virginia is now South Maryland. Just another insane Blue State. It may as well be Connecticut.

Where do conservatives go if *all* 50 states turn Blue??

Today on Tommy T’s Obsession with the Freeperati – back on your heads edition

You know the old joke – guy dies and goes to Hell. The Devil tells him he has to spend all eternity in one of three rooms, and that he’ll let him look and decide.

Guy looks in the first room – hundreds of thousands of people all standing on their heads. Faces bulging, eyes distended, blood running from their noses. It suddenly becomes clear to the guy why being crucified upside down was considered to be a horrendous punishment.

He opens the door to the second room – same thing.  The guy slams the door shut and hesitantly reaches for the third door. This huge room is different – the hundreds of thousands of people are standing knee-deep in human excrement, drinking coffee. The guy thinks – “Well, I guess after a while you can’t even smell the shit any more, and I do love coffee.”

He wades in, gets a cup, and joins the throng.  After a minute, the Devil pokes his head in and says: “Coffee break’s over – back on your heads”.

My coffee break is over.

And with that – the .01% solution!

Trump—“We’ll build a wall along Colorado…”

President Trump said that in addition to border wall construction in New Mexico and Texas, “We’re building a wall in Colorado.”

Speaking in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the Shale Insight Conference on Wednesday, Trump appeared to flub his geography when it comes to the U.S.-Mexico border.

“We’re building a wall on the border of New Mexico, and we’re building a wall in Colorado. We’re building a beautiful wall. A big one that really works, that you can’t get over, you can’t get under. And we’re building a wall in Texas,” Trump said. “We’re not building a wall in Kansas, but they get the benefit of the walls we just mentioned.”

REPORT: Turkish War Planes Strike Kurdish Targets in Northern Syria
GP ^ | 10/07/2019 | Cristina Laila

Posted on 10/7/2019, 4:16:25 PM by mplc51

Turkish war planes carried out airstrikes against Kurdish targets at the Semalka border crossing between Syria and Iraq.

Shortly before the air strike, US defense officials shut down Northern Syria airspace to Turkey in a statement to Anadolu.

“DOD spokesperson confirms the CAOC has pulled Turkey off the air tasking order and stopped the ISR feed, meaning Turkey is effectively cut out of the airspace along the border with Syria.”

“Turkish artillery bombards PKK/YPG targets in Malikiyah,” reported Israeli journalist Amichai Stein.

President Trump earlier Monday morning warned Turkey, a NATO ally, that he would destroy their economy if they did anything Trump “considers to be off” in a pair of tweets.

TRUMP: As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!). They must, with Europe and others, watch over the captured ISIS fighters and families. The U.S. has done far more than anyone could have ever expected, including the capture of 100% of the ISIS Caliphate. It is time now for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory. THE USA IS GREAT!

Reports Of A Change In Tune? Speaker Pelosi Is Feeling Out Caucus On Impeachment
Townhall ^ | 09/24/2019 | Matt Vespa

Posted on 9/24/2019, 1:06:43 PM by SeekAndFind

For the most part, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been a rational bastion in the ‘get Trump’ fever that has overtaken House Democrats. The calls to impeach Trump have been drumming for nearly four years has always been met with skepticism from Pelosi, who knows the risks. It will galvanize the GOP like no other, push away Independent voters, and will offer loads of ammunition to be used in political ads. With the presidency in Republican hands, along with the bully pulpit, the GOP has the advantage in this fight, especially if the reasons to impeach are seen as politically driven. The fact is that they are politically-driven; they just don’t like Trump. He is being impeached because he won the 2016 election. That’s it. The Trump-Russia collusion myth was their best shot—and Robert Mueller torpedoed that.

I don’t know how many moves ahead Trump has planned, but I am convinced he and his team actually launched this “Ukraine Whistleblower” narrative.

It seems to be working perfectly. Its got even CNN talking about Biden’s corruption in Ukraine, thus hobbling Biden even further. Its got the media once again chasing a completely BS story. Its got his GOP opponents saying stupid things which will come to nothing.

The Dems going bonkers on “impeachment” may be yet another PR benefit.

“If all undocumented immigrants were deported today, next year’s Social Security trust funds would have approximately $13 billion less for benefit payouts. It’s a considerable loss of dollars, especially when it’s projected that the Social Security funds will be depleted by 2034.

According to New American Economy, undocumented immigrants contributed $13 billion into the Social Security funds in 2016 and $3 billion to Medicare. Three years prior, the Chief Actuary of the Social Security Administration, Stephen Goss, wrote a report that estimated undocumented immigrants contributed $12 billion into Social Security.

Approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants live in the U.S. with no legal authorization to work, yet an estimated 8 million do, both on and off the books. Since undocumented immigrants don’t have Social Security numbers and are not authorized to work legally in the U.S., they are not eligible for any Social Security benefits, whether they’ve paid into the system or not.”

To: Cowboy Bob
Why don’t they ever gut Welfare?

Social Security has become welfare. People tend to think of retirement, but Social Security gives money to all sorts of people (including illegals). I have (or know of) at least five people who are receiving Social Security in my family that simply are not working.

Why hold down a decent-paying (or even a crappy) job, when you can feed yourself by dumpster diving, and live in a 400 sq. ft. apartment in a combat zone. trying to live off $1200 a month? And “illegals” don’t get a red fucking cent of Social Security – and you’d know that if you weren’t a pinheaded inbred waste of protoplasm.

If they want to cut way back on the costs, then they should scale it back to retirees.

24 posted on 9/8/2019, 11:14:04 AM by HarleyD

Maybe because a lot of those retirees (like myself) were “downsized” from their jobs, and no one wants to hire someone who’s 62 years old?
To: HarleyD

And to only those that paid into it. Right now we have family members of illegals that come over here through family reunification that are qualifying for SSI. I’d love to see the math when only those that paid into it, get it.

41 posted on 9/8/2019, 11:08:51 PM by qaz123

So – people who are old enough to qualify for Social Security are doing so on the backs of “illegals” who would have to be 85+ ?
Interesting theory.
To: gibsonguy

“The first sentence in a “news” story.”

It’s an opinion column

And he’s right. Just before the 2018 election, Mitch McConnell said they had to cut Social Security. A great way to lose the House and turn it over to Trumps tormentors.  That may have been Mitch’s plan

By the way, Trump has said GOP has to stop trying to cut Social Security. He argued against all the othe candidates in the 2016 primaries. And he got booed by the big donors. But he won the votes of blue color democrats. If GOap now insists on cutting social security (behind closed doors or wherever)?theyll go back to losing as they did before Trump

It seems you are bent. Maybe you need to straighten out and stop being such an emotional liberal wanting to cry over everything and demand everyone else joins you.

Yeah, you liberal whiner! Just because you’re in Odessa and a potential target is no reason to cry over things like mass murder and 17-month-olds getting shot in the face.

Leak Plugged? Trump’s Personal “Gatekeeper” Hits The Exit
Hotair ^ | 08/30/2019 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 8/30/2019, 9:17:32 AM by SeekAndFind

In any White House, discretion is a prized value in staffers, and perhaps even more so in the Donald Trump era. As Trump’s personal assistant in the Oval Office, Madeleine Westerhout should have known that better than most. Yet Westerhout has been shown the door, as multiple news organizations reported overnight, for sharing personal information about the First Family with reporters:

President Trump’s personal assistant Madeleine Westerhout resigned from her job abruptly, a White House official and another person familiar with the situation told NBC News late Thursday night.

One of the sources said that Westerhout left the job because she shared personal information about the president’s family and Oval Office operations at an off-the-record dinner with reporters earlier this month in Bedminster, N.J., where a Trump-owned golf club that the president often visits in summer months is located.

All of the outlets reporting this departure call it a resignation, but they all also strongly suggest that the resignation came under considerable duress. The New York Times first reported it and noted that the sequence of events started when Trump found out she was leaking information to reporters, and that she’s already persona non grata anywhere in the White House. Needless to say, that’s not a departure on mutually agreeable terms.

The Times’ Annie Karni and Maggie Haberman also take note of Westerhout’s political pedigree:

“Ms. Westerhout, a former Republican National Committee aide who also worked for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, reportedly cried on election night because she was upset over Mr. Trump’s victory. As such, the president at first viewed her warily, as a late convert to his cause who could not be trusted.”

(snip)

Ms. Westerhout’s power in the White House came almost entirely from proximity. She is not a name-brand White House aide and has never appeared on television, unless it was an accidental shot of her hovering behind her boss. But while she was not a decision maker, she enjoyed unique access to Mr. Trump.

Trump tends to be a little paranoid about working with other Republicans, but in this case his first instinct might have been correct. Karni and Haberman hint at Westerhout’s state of mind in the last paragraph of the above excerpt. Politico later reported that Westerhout was attempting a little empire-building in the White House, which might have led to a slap-down or two from more senior officials:

“In the past six months, Westerhout had tried to expand the boundaries of her job to encompass a broader set of tasks and to include foreign travel, said one adviser close to the White House, who suggested Westerhout had tried to act like a de facto chief of staff. This irked several White House officials and Cabinet secretaries who thought she should stick to her primary task of serving as the president’s personal secretary with a desk just outside the Oval Office. …”

(snip)

The close White House adviser called this “the final straw” for someone who did not have many allies left in the building.

Under those circumstances, one has to wonder whether Westerhout got set up by rivals within the White House. That’s the kind of games that get played when low-level staffers try acquiring power at the expense of others with better connections. It’s just as likely, if not more so, that a lack of success led Westerhout to lose her sense of discretion and/or attempt to gain more power by manipulating the press against her real and perceived rivals.

At least, those are the fun explanations. If this turns out to be just the mundane circumstance of a secretary with trouble keeping her mouth shut after having a couple of drinks, it’ll be a disappointment. Even so, Westerhout’s exit will serve as a warning to others to keep their mouths shut whatever the circumstance might be.

Yes – because The Darnold’s love of “little folk” (as opposed to power players) is SO well-known…

POLITICS DONALD TRUMP’S APPROVAL RATING SLIDES TO 36%, THE LOWEST IT’S BEEN SINCE JANUARY (BARF)
Newsweek ^ | 8/22/19 | Asher Stockler

Posted on 8/22/2019, 7:41:16 PM by Maceman

Amid numerous political scandals and an unfurling trade war with China that shows little sign of de-escalation, President Donald Trump lacks the broad confidence of the American public, according to a new AP-NORC poll.

Sixty-two percent of U.S. adults disapprove of the way Trump is handling his job, compared with 36 percent who approve. Predictably, the partisan divides swing favorably or unfavorably towards the president depending on political affiliation. But, notably, the coveted class of self-identified political independents remains opposed to the president, with 65 percent disapproving of the way he is handling his job.

Trump’s approval ratings have not been this low in the monthly AP-NORC survey since January.

While many of the conflicts and controversies that have emerged in recent months pertain to the trade war and Trump’s management of the economy — including a warning sign that a recession may be on the horizon due to a metric known as the inverted yield curve — the public has not been scared off by the president’s economic stewardship. Fifty-one percent disapprove of his handling of the economy, and 46 percent approve. Though this is a net negative rating, it indicates the public is largely divided on the matter, and represents Trump’s highest job approval rating for any category measured in the AP-NORC poll.

Today on Tommy T’s Obsession with the Freeperati -mental health day edition

OK, people – making good on my promise to take a week off.

It’s a running gag that I don an ISO suit before I plunge into Freeperville, but in truth, there is no ISO suit and no protection. I have to read hundreds and hundreds of posts to choose what to post here, and there’s no insulation from the stupidity, the hatred, the vicious brain-dead rantings of the Freeperati.

Then, after I’ve read the dozens of threads and hundreds upon hundreds of odious posts, I have to go back through them again to pick the stinkers I’m going to quote, and place them in some kind of order in my post.  Like reading that shit once isn’t enough.  Sometimes I put my Monday post together early Friday morning, and sometimes I put it off until the last minute because I just can’t deal with the world-class stupidity. Then I go and beat the dog, .and finish off by downing a bottle of bleach.

If evil had a smell, the evil I rub up against in Free Republic on a weekly basis would lead my home to be declared a hazardous waste site, condemned, torn down, and salt poured over the land on which it once stood.

So – no post this week – and we’ll see how I’m feeling by next weekend.
