Malaka Of The Week: Tagg, You’re It

Tagg Romney: upper class tough guy or plutocratic pussy? I learned that the first Romney clone picture I posted was of Josh Rmoney. Oh well, they all look alike to me. Btw, the thang above doesn’t play. Okay, on with the show: The Romney boys are carrying on the Palin tradition of silly names or nicknames. In 2008 there was Trig and now we have Tagg Romney. I wonder if he’s named after price tags or something. Romney the younger shares his father’s thin skin and disdain for President Obama, which is why he’s malaka of the week. Obama really … Continue reading Malaka Of The Week: Tagg, You’re It

“From Etch-A-Sketch To Sketchy”

From Album4 “I’m not a crook vulture capitalist.” E.J. Dionne puts the sketchy in Mitt’s Etch-a-Sketch, while Krugman’s “amazed” at Romney’s insistence that he was just a small time Mom & Pop LBO specialist (well, Pop in the sense of Papa Doc, or his Central American oligarch equivalents). As for me, maybe this is aging myself, but Mitt’s performance kept reminding me off…former TV character and pitchman Joe Isuzu. Your mileage may vary. From Album4 Continue reading “From Etch-A-Sketch To Sketchy”

Abhorrent

The father of Chris Stevens, our murdered ambassador to Libya, has spoken out about how a certain lying, shameless, pandering candidate is using his son’s death. He doesn’t name names but we know who he’s talking about: “It would really be abhorrent to make this into a campaign issue,” Jan Stevens, 77, said in a telephone interview from his home in Loomis, California, as he prepares for a memorial service for his son next week. Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee, has criticized President Barack Obama for not providing adequate security in Libya, saying the administration has left the country exposed to … Continue reading Abhorrent

Taking What Readers Love Away From Them

Soon they’ll be complaining about how readers have left them and they cannot imagine for the life of them why: A distinctive art form is being steadily destroyed by people who look purely at revenue. It’s hard to say that an editorial cartoonist generates a certain amount of income for the newspaper, just as it is hard to say how much any single reporter or photographer does. But eliminating the cartoonist sends a message to readers: We are taking away something you value, something that makes your newspaper distinctive, something you cannot get anywhere else. We value your newspaper less, … Continue reading Taking What Readers Love Away From Them

I was thrilled 3 or 4 years ago when I belated learned that Tina Fey was half-Greek. It’s an ethnic pride thing; plus I’ve had a crush on the funny and brilliant Ms. Fey for years. Today on Tommy T’s Obsession with the Freeperati – Day of the dead hampster edition

Good morning, everyone – time to suit up and hit the iso chamber again and pry the tops of some reeking drums of freepitude. We’d probably better hurry, as the EPA has been sniffing around here lately, and I’m not exactly sure our permits are good for the kind of messes we’ve been uncovering of late.

I know you’ve all been curious how the Biden / Ryan debate live thread came out, so let’s get right to it.

Another miserable FR Live Thread failure.

Yet again, FR fails the big LIVE THREAD test.

How does what is supposed to be the premiere conservative site on the ‘net continue to fail?

I
would have expanded on this except it took forever to get this simple

Why zot this? It’s a legit gripe and it would be nice to find out

I have to ask this very seriously, do you know that this site has
been completely unusable to perhaps thousands and thousands of others
during either the first Presidential or Vice-Presidential debate and for
an hour or so after their respective conclusions?

This has never
happened in previous election cycles during debates, election night
results or during large breaking news events. Slow? Yes. Unusable, no.

I’ve
had multiple tabs opened for the debates this year and the FR one just
wheel spin, wheel spin, wheel spin… blank page, no progress bar moving
on the address bar. It’s just the internet equivalent of dead air for
hours.

If you’re getting this during a VP debate I fully expect this site to be dead and inaccessible from 6PM-4AM election night.

Update us would you? What’s going on?

I completely agree. This is ridiculous! I know it’s not politically
correct to say this around here, but at what point does the equipment
for this site get upgraded, or replaced?

I’ve already purposed that I won’t even waste my time coming here for the next presidential debate.

Weekend Question Thread: Big Block of Cheese Day

So yesterday on Twitter Leo McGarry asked us all for our ideas for Big Block of Cheese Day: The staff participates in “Big Block of Cheese Day”, a fictional workday on which White House Chief of StaffLeo McGarry encourages his staff to meet with fringe special interest groups that normally would not get attention from the White House. Big Block of Cheese Day also is mentioned in “Somebody’s Going to Emergency, Somebody’s Going to Jail.” The rationale for the day, as recounted by McGarry (much to the consternation of the Senior Staff), is that America’s seventh president, Andrew Jackson, had … Continue reading Weekend Question Thread: Big Block of Cheese Day

Friday Night Music: What’s Up With Your Brother?

Singer-songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire Dave Alvin was a part of one of the greatest brother act in rock and roll history. He and brother Phil were the heart and soul of the roots rock classicists, the Blasters. Unlike the brothers Davies or Gallagher, the Alvins remain on good terms. That’s why everyone always asks Dave about Phil and vice versa. This is a more or less a song about being a brother act: Continue reading Friday Night Music: What’s Up With Your Brother?

Dinesh D’Souza resigned as president of The King’s College after a
magazine story revealed that he was engaged to another woman while still
married to his wife of 20 years. The Board of Trustees of The King’s
College, a Christian institution based in New York, accepted his
resignation Thursday.

I think Christian conservative leaders do more harm to
Christianity when they get caught in these sexual escapades than all the
trash liberals and atheists throw at it combined.

Forget Obama, Dinesh was one of the leading Christian apologists in
the country defending Christianity(anywhere, anytime), as well as
objective morality, and now he is just another hypocrite who got caught
with his pants down and has not only humiliated himself but has made
Christian conservatism a national laughingstock, again.

An honorable man doesn’t make it his business to point out the moral
shortcomings of others while banging some woman who was nine years old
when said man married his current wife
. It’s also pretty clear he didn’t
just resign – he was no doubt told to, lest the college rightfully
pressure him to return the 7 figure salary he collected while spending
his time attending to his own personal business rather than the
school’s. Not only is he an adulterer, his love interest is one as well,
and she’s been married all of 10 months.
The man disgusts me – just
another charlatan fleecing the flock while completely ignoring the
message that he touts.

Oh Ross

Obama only won because he showed up and, like, breathed in and out and shit: Where Romney actually has a more detailed proposal, as he does on immigration, his rebuttals were crisper and more convincing, and he also won several exchanges just by turning the conversation back to the economy’s performance under Obama. (He also had to deal with what the liberal pundit Jonathan Chait rightly described as a slate of “friendly questions from an audience that obviously leaned left.”) Yes. The audience leaned left, by how they didn’t ask Obama why he doesn’t just go back to Kenya already. … Continue reading Oh Ross
