AHS Freak Show Thread: No Was An Affront

Twins and Dandy

I missed recapping Test of Strength because my DVR went all wackadoodle and then it was Thanksgiving Eve and there was no new episode. Who among us wouldn’t want to see a horror camp fest on Turkey Day Eve? I guess that’s redundant since many family Thanksgivings are freak shows. In short, I skipped recapping an episode and decided to take a dip in the Blood Bath. Yeah, I know, the picture above is from an earlier episode but I missed the Tattler twins who were in Chicago, that toddling town, consulting with a surgeon. Btw, the post title was a line spoken about spoiled brat Dandy by Ma Mott. The Tattlers definitely said no and lived to tell the tale. For now.

This post contains  more spoilers than a post-Katrina refrigerator, so I’ll resume after the break.

Mother’s Day

A child of mine
Would eat fire, sing death
Still my hands forever
With her uncompromised mortality
— Marilyn Hacker, The Song of Liadan
I have one regret from the birth of my daughter.
I wish I could remember the anesthesiologist’s last name.
His first name was Luke, and he had the unfortunate job of holding my head while the doctors stitched me back together.
When they took Kick from me — it felt like that, like they’d stolen something that was mine, ripped it away — in the operating room, Mr. A got to hold her first. I kept asking, “Is she okay? Is she okay? Is she okay?”
“Is she okay?” my OB asked, incredulously. “Listen to her.”
She was howling, red-faced, flailing her tiny arms and legs. The doctor held her up over the curtain, then put her face next to mine for a second, just a second, so soft. Then she and Mr. A were taken to recovery and I was left alone with Luke. I was shaking, the adrenaline rush completely unexpected, shaking so hard I rattled the table.
You’ve got to understand, I said to Luke the anesthesiologist. She was our last chance. She was our very last chance.
We’d been trying for ten years to have a baby, most of those years in fertility treatment of one kind or another. After this last embryo transfer, we’d have been done. Out of options, at least for a child of our own. I’d given up on the idea, got drunk at a wine festival the week before the pregnancy test that confirmed she existed, accused the nurse who called with the news of screwing with me. Our very last chance, and it worked.
My teeth were chattering. I couldn’t breathe.
I’d had a thousand tests during this pregnancy. Not one of them had put my mind completely at ease. An ultrasound could tell you if your baby had two hands, two feet, but it couldn’t tell you if her brain was working typically, if she could see, if she could hear or make sounds or breathe outside the womb. So this moment was the first time I felt the answer was certain: She was fine, and she was here.
The shaking stopped, slowly, as the pain meds seeped into my blood. I was wheeled into the recovery room, and became dimly aware that I was starving. I could have murdered a cheeseburger and fries.
She was curled in a tiny blanket, snuggled up against Mr. A’s shoulder, and they were both wrapped in another blanket. I saw the top of her tiny head first, downy and pink.
They’d taken my heart out of my body, and there it was open to the world. Anything could happen to it.
I’ve never been so frightened.
Oh God, I thought. What did I do?

Morning, all!

No unifying theme this week, I’m afraid – just random derpitude.

Let’s start with – Read it and sweep! (composite thread)

Republican Establishment Gloats After Primary Victories

The Republican establishment gloated after three underfunded Tea Party challengers failed to knock off incumbent Republicans in primaries on Tuesday while another establishment-backed candidate secured the GOP nomination for Senate in North Carolina.

“Next up is that fraud @MattBevin! #GOP,” tweeted Jahan Wilcox, a former aide to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who is now the RNC’s director of rapid response. (He later deleted it and said his thoughts were his “personal opinions.”)

Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) defeated her primary challenger Frank Roche despite a series of high-profile outbursts in support of amnesty. Ellmers was heavily backed by Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg’s FWD.us group.

“Folks should be talking more about Ellmers,” tweeted Becky Tallent, a senior aide to Speaker John Boehner who formerly served as one of Sen. John McCain’s top amnesty lieutenants.

Boehner (R-OH) unsurprisingly coasted to victory against challenger J.D Winteregg. In response, Ana Navarro, the Jeb Bush ally, promptly tweeted,”Congratulations to @johnboehner on decisive primary win. Rumors of his demise were greatly exagerated…who’s crying now?”

Ohio freshman Rep. David Joyce defeated Matt Lynch, who was endorsed by FreedomWorks and Ron Paul, which prompted Brian Walsh, the former NRSC director of communications who still advises the group, to tweet, “BOOM.”

In the night’s main event, Tillis avoided what would have been a costly runoff to win the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate by securing more than 40% of the vote. He will take on vulnerable incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) in the fall. Tillis defeated Greg Brannon — who was backed by FreedomWorks, Rand Paul, the Senate Conservatives Fund, and nearly every local Tea Party group — and Mark Harris — who received the support of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Meanwhile, Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, Chamber of Commerce, and American Crossroads backed Tillis for the win.

And these people are relying on suckers to vote for them henceforth. Just listen to their sneering jibes. If you think these people will save America, you’re dead wrong.

Liberals circling the wagons? My friend, just look at some of the other threads here tonight. MASSIVE surge of pro-Karl Rove, anti-conservative sentiment. Not sure if these poindexters were sent over specifically from DU or if they are just the more insane McCain section of FreeRepublic rearing their ugly heads.

One thing is for sure, JimRob needs to get out the Zot, and set it to kill.

It’s beyond madness. The Establishment is right now tearing into conservatives, on the war path… and various Freepers are jumping on the bandwagon!

If this is not fixed, then FR will have transformed from a conservative site to a republican site… two very different things.

It’s beyond madness. The Establishment is right now tearing into conservatives, on the war path… and various Freepers are jumping on the bandwagon!

If this is not fixed, then FR will have transformed from a conservative site to a republican site… two very different things.

Morning, all!

No unifying theme this week, I’m afraid – just random derpitude.

Republican Establishment Gloats After Primary Victories
Breitbart ^ | 05/06/14 | Tony Lee

Posted on 5‎/‎7‎/‎2014‎ ‎2‎:‎29‎:‎41‎ ‎AM by Viennacon

Odds & Sods: Show Of Hands Edition

the-who odds--sods

There’s so much going on of late that I decided it was time to get all oddsy and sodsy with you. The bad news is moving at such a breakneck pace that I want to make like the Arctic Monkeys:

Okay, now that I’ve shown I’m not entirely a relic, on with the show this is it:

Show Of Hands: I’ve been impressed that the post-Ferguson protests have such legs as it were. I’m particularly proud of the Rams Five and their dramatic entrance to last Sunday’s game:

Raiders Rams Football

It took a lot of Ed Balls to do this in the conformist world of professional football and there’s been backlash from the St. Louis po-po union, headed up by some boor named Boorda, as well as more malakatude from professional asshole Mike Ditka. He should probably stop saying so much stupid shit or he may well swallow his mustache.

I’m glad the Rams players protested so publicly. Hopefully the owners won’t take it out on them in the future; as for payback from the local heat, there are rumors that the Rams are headed back to Los Angeles where they belong. Or are the Raiders moving back? What’s next? The Cardinals moving back to St Louis? Maybe the NFL will end up with a team in Canton where Bulldogs fans remain livid over losing their team. I made that bit up. Canton hasn’t had an NFL franchise since 1926…

I Can’t Breathe: I don’t shock easily but the grand jury non-decision in the Eric Garner choking case left me gobsmacked by their gobshitery. In some ways, this is more appalling than the Ferguson fiasco. In this instance, there’s video showing the copper applying a chokehold to the guy who was selling loosies. So, someone died for selling cigarettes-instead of from smoking them- and was killed by a cop in violation of NYPD’s own policy. That just ain’t right.

The Garner case has given us yet another example of wingnut hypocrisy. The wingers are horrified by Michael Brown but some are arguing that Garner was a victim of the “nanny state.”  Sometimes I think that wingnuts played football with leather helmets like the Canton Bulldogs…

The only light at the end of the cops killing large black dudes tunnel is that the Justice Department is investigating both the Ferguson and Staten Island cases. As a New Orleanian, all I can is say is: remember the Danziger Bridge case, which was brought by the Feds after the ball was dropped locally.

I have to give the New York Daily News props for this front page:

NY_DN

There’s nothing quite like a tabloid front page to nail a story like this. Well done, youse guys. I almost said y’all but that was too Southern for Noo Yawk.  More nonsensical natterings after da break, y’all/youse…

Today on Tommy T’s Obsession with the Freeperati – Aqua Buddah Strikes Back edition

Morning, all.

You know that there is no love lost between the Freeperati and the Rand Paul contingent, right?

I mean, “Randroid” is the nicest thing the rank and file have to say about him.

Well – this came bubbling up from the political cesspool that is CPAC:

Rand Paul wins 2014 CPAC straw poll, Ted Cruz finishes a distant second
The Associated Press ^ | 03-08-2014 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on ‎3‎/‎8‎/‎2014‎ ‎4‎:‎52‎:‎54‎ ‎PM by PaulCruz2016

Sen. Rand Paul demolished his competition in the 2014 Washington Times/CPAC presidential preference straw poll on Saturday, winning 31 percent of the vote — nearly three times the total of second-place Sen. Ted Cruz.

Mr. Cruz’s 11 percent was still a big improvement for the freshman senator, who won just 4 percent in last year’s straw poll. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson was third with 9 percent and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was fourth with 8 percent in results that signal growing discontent with the GOP establishment in Washington.

Indeed, CPAC voters now have an unfavorable view of Republicans in Congress, with 51 percent saying they disapprove of the job the GOP is doing on Capitol Hill. Just last year the GOP had a 54 percent approval rating, and in 2012 they held a 70 percent approval rating.

Rand Paul: 31%
Ted Cruz: 11%
All the other losers (Christie, Bush): less than 10%

“Paulestinians”? That’s a new one.

To: PaulCruz2016

After hearing about the background of those attending CPAC I am not sure I would ever support such a group.I wondered why Ted needed to be at such an event but he has to touch all the hands in his run for president. I just hope he remembers where he came from when he makes it over the top.

Rand Paul: 31%

To: PaulCruz2016

This is meaningless, half the voters were under 30 years old. That is a group who don’t show up at the polls.

Also, the Paul’s push legalized marijuana which may account for Paul’s popularity with the Pothead vote.

I like Ted Cruz, but he doesn’t inherit Pauliacs.

Oh.
Never mind.

To: PaulCruz2016; All
Indeed, his (Rand Paul’s) father, then-Rep. Ron Paul, won the straw poll twice on a similar libertarian-minded message, though he struggled to translate that support into votes when it came to primaries and caucuses.

GOOD!!! CPAC can choose the little punk all they want, but, thank God he still has to win the votes of the American people in the Primaries; which he WILL NOT do. It would be easier for me to forgive Rand Paul for raping a nun easier than I can forgive him for endorsing, and campaigning for, Mitch “The Bitch” McConnell. I will never forgive him for that, and I will never vote for the little political whore.NEVER!!
