Speaking of Cockfights

Holy COW, they are wanking hard over at RedState: You praised, in other words, a man whom only Kathryn Jean Lopez and Justin Hart could describe as carrying any sort of conservativerecord, a man who has spent his entire campaign shooting at conservatives, and a man who did more than anyone other than George W. Bush and Tom DeLay to stain the Republican image of fiscal austerity. In the very same piece, you treated a man with actual, real, conservative accomplishmentsover the course of a decade of governance as a tongue-tied embarrassment. [snip] Not only that, but your collective response … Continue reading Speaking of Cockfights

Malaka Of The Week: Susan Collins

The Susan Rice farce continues anon. I remain gobsmacked that John McCain’s personal pique is driving the whole story as well as getting Senators who allegedly know better involved. The Senator in question is Maine’s Susan Collins. I am avoiding the usual modifier applied to her, “moderate,” because I’m not buying it, and I’m sick and tired of hearing her called a moderate when on vote after vote after vote, she toes the party line. The late Senator Jake Javits of Noo Yawk was a genuine GOP moderate, Senator Collins is not. That is why she is malaka of the … Continue reading Malaka Of The Week: Susan Collins

The Crown Prince

I’m not surprised that Ron Paul has done well thus far this primary season. The voters are cranky and who better to, uh, crank them up than a crank like Ron Paul. I am, however, surprised at how many people think he’ll bolt the GOP and run as a 3rd, 4th or even 5th party candidate. (Just had to prove that I can count that high.) Why? His son, Senator Rand Paul. Unless Dr. Ron is the world’s worst father, it’s hard to see him ruining his son’s chances in the GOP. Rand could be Ron’s ultimate revenge on the … Continue reading The Crown Prince

Ooh, a Cockfight!

I haven’t forgiven LGF for the 2004 election, but watching them beat the crap out of James O’Keefe is a good time had by all. What an utterly stupid stunt. All this does is hurt the poll workers, and in the case of my own precinct we’re talking about retired people who are approximately 900 years old and are there basically just to help. We’ve pretty much gotten to the point where everybody involved in any way in democracy is a liberal, and unless you believe in the outright rule by the Wise Old Rich White Men of Washington without … Continue reading Ooh, a Cockfight!

Sending It Out To New York City Tonight

Witnessning the unraveling of the city, those of Harry Penn’s reporters who were not killed (as many of them were) returned toThe Sun to write about it. They sensed that this was the proper thing to do, even if everything else had gone to hell, because they knew enough to know that whenever the world ends it always manages to begin again, and they had no intention of being left out. —Winter’s Tale, Mark Helprin The New York Daily News is updating from a darkened newsroom. There are floodwaters in the subway tunnels and hospitals are without power. Various jackasses … Continue reading Sending It Out To New York City Tonight

If It Wasn’t Over Before, It’s Really Over Now

Bye Mitt: Several others again asked Romney whether he would eliminate FEMA. “Governor, you’ve been asked 14 times. Why are you refusing to answer the question?” one asked. Romney ignored the reporters’ queries and continued loading up the truck. Earlier, during the event, he ignored similar queries. During a 2011 primary debate, Romney supported the idea of curtailing federal disaster response and letting states and the private sector take on a bigger role. “Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction,” he said. “And … Continue reading If It Wasn’t Over Before, It’s Really Over Now

More Adventures In Social Media; or, Please Let Me Find Out That I’m Adopted

Apparently, this is George Clinton’s DNA; I don’t think you or I are funky enough to have major AND a minor groove in all of our cell nuclei.Via. In my ongoing quest to get disinvited from all future family reunions, I’ve started responding to moronic things that relations post on line. If you know anything about my family, you’re probably thinking that I’ll need to take a sabbatical from work for a while if this hobby is going to continue. Today’s idiocy comes from a first cousin, with a special guest appearance from my older brother (they are anonymized in … Continue reading More Adventures In Social Media; or, Please Let Me Find Out That I’m Adopted

The long arm of the law, in your uterus

I feel more empowered already. “Today’s ruling is a victory for all who stand in defense of life. Every life lost to abortion is a tragedy, and this important sonogram legislation ensures that every Texas woman seeking an abortion has all the facts about the life she is carrying, and understands the devastating impact of such a life-ending decision. We will continue to fight any attempt to limit our state’s laws that value and protect the unborn.” We will, however, continue to dismantle and destroy those laws and systems that value and protect living children.Once they’re born, those little suckers are … Continue reading The long arm of the law, in your uterus

America, 1900: Subsistence Marriage

My maternal great-grandparents and children. This is on my wall at home, next to one taken around the same time of my great-grandparents on the paternal side. In both pictures, of these two families that were very different from each other, there is one commonality: an older husband, younger wife, and two sets of kids, the older set from a first marriage. Here, the two older girls and the older son were from the first marriage. My great-grandfather above married my great-grandmother less than six months after his first wife died in childbirth. Needless to say, if the shoe was … Continue reading America, 1900: Subsistence Marriage

Halloween Election Update

If you’re like me, you’re mainlining Nate Silver’s awesome 538 blog. Nate has applied the principles of baseball Sabermetrics to polling data. Thing continue to look pretty good for the Dems and not so good for the serial liar Willard Rmoney. I’ve been doing this particular update on Facebook but decided to share with y’all: Only a 22.6% chance of electing our first robot President. That’s all. Continue reading Halloween Election Update

‘The Bitter Politics of Envy’

Yes, Mitt. We’re jealous of you: This country already has a leader who divides us with the bitter politics of envy. We must offer an alternative vision. I stand ready to lead us down a different path, where we are lifted up by our desire to succeed, not dragged down by a resentment of success. In these difficult times, we cannot abandon the core values that define us as unique — We are One Nation, Under God. Wanting bankers to be subject to the law like the rest of us is positively ungodly, y’all. As well as resentful. If we … Continue reading ‘The Bitter Politics of Envy’

Hurricane Sandy and No We Can’t

Seriously: Mr. Romney not only believes that states acting independently can handle the response to a vast East Coast storm better than Washington, but that profit-making companies can do an even better job. He said it was “immoral” for the federal government to do all these things if it means increasing the debt. It’s an absurd notion, but it’s fully in line with decades of Republican resistance to federal emergency planning. FEMA, created by President Jimmy Carter, was elevated to cabinet rank in the Bill Clinton administration, but was then demoted by President George W. Bush, who neglected it, subsumed … Continue reading Hurricane Sandy and No We Can’t

Having Elections is so Mean

Pity the poor electorate: Walker has already launched a TV ad blitz and continues to raise campaign cash. Republicans scored a win in the courts when a judge ruled Thursday that election officials must take “affirmative steps” to more aggressively vet recall signatures. On Friday, the Government Accountability Board announced the statewide recall could cost $9 million or more in local, county and state election expenses. Rep. Robin Vos (R-Rochester), a Walker supporter who requested the estimates, said in a statement: “The real results of the statewide recall election will be a financial drain on our local governments and an … Continue reading Having Elections is so Mean

This is exactly what this crowd of republicans here certainly republicans all across the country were hoping for. He delivered a powerful speech. Erin, a powerful speech.Although I marked at least seven or eight points I’m sure the fact checkers will have some opportunities to dispute if they want to go forward, I’m sure they will. Isn’t It Awful When the Devil Turns Round on You?

Well, what did you expect? In thepreceding post I referenced this swift-boat-style ‘documentary’ on Mitt Romney and Bain Capital which the Gingrich-backing SuperPAC (Winning Our Future) has bought and will use as the battering ram against Romney in South Carolina. They’ve put up a trailer for it now which you can see after the jump. It really is right out of the Swift Boat witch’s brew, the camp lighting, rumbling black clouds, the cinematography of 30 second hit ads expanded out longform. Right? And so the headaches that result when Republicans see this stuff (laid out nicely in Tommy’s post … Continue reading Isn’t It Awful When the Devil Turns Round on You?

Today on Tommy T’s Obsession with the Freeperati – Iowa Caucasians Caucus Edition

What a fun week it’s been, gentle people – drums of Freeper toxic waste (triple redundancy score!) have been piling up faster than I can catalogue them, much less open and decontaminate them.

Needless to say, the whole of Freeperville is awash in Santorum, so this one’s going to be more icky than normal.

Suits ON! Blowers ON! Airlock door OPEN! Let’s GO!

First one up –Romney takes Iowa – Jim Rob takes nitroglycerin!

Iowa GOP: Romney wins caucuses [Romney 30,015, Santorum 30,007]

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney beat former Sen. Rick Santorum by a margin of just 8 votes in the Iowa GOP caucuses, the chairman of the Iowa Republican Party announced early Wednesday.

Gee, what a surprise.

Not really, no. If you expected anything else, you’re a nutcase, or Michelle Bachmann (but I repeat myself).

To: Slings and Arrows

Tokyo Rove had a box of Romney ballots ready just in case.

New MSM headline: “Landslide Mitt gets mandate from Iowa!”

“Tokyo Rove”?
Funny. I remember not so long ago, when you buttmunches were kissng his ass like it was the first time you’d ever gotten to first base.
Allow me to remind you, by posting a pic I took fromthe very forum you’re currently posting in, during the second term of the Dubya Administration, when you imbeciles thought “Tokyo Rove” was all that and a bag of chips :

.
Ring any bells?

To: Slings and Arrows

I find it very odd thatTokyo Rove was the FIRST person to know Willard “won” Iowa.

I guess not.

I would think the people counting the votes and the media would know first. And there were also reports of random precincts not counting right, but they refuse to do a recount.

No question about it: Romney and the establishment STOLE the Iowa caucuses!

This whole Iowa Caucus stinks to high heaven! The Fox people said that the votes were lost so Romney and Rick agreed to pre-agranged vote totals?? This whole thing is Fishy…The 2012 race is looking like a Dog and Pony show to hand Romney the Nomination and get in his Admin’s good graces…I’m calling shenanigans!!!!

You do that, chum. I’m sure the caucus Captains have been going over Freeperville with a fine tooth comb waiting to see if they should stop the polling because one or more of you dipshits didn’t like the outcome.

Whole ROTTEN MESS was rigged!

Santorum is in the lead .. until greazy @$$ Rove starts ‘orchestrating’ HOW the last two

RoveIndictThis

(Four Hour Late) precincts MUST have counted wrong and .. wouldn’t you know it .. Smarmy RNC chair comes on and announces how ALL the votes had now been ‘found’ and GUESS WHAT? .. MITTENS WINS .. by the exact same amount that he had been losing by! SURPRISE!!

Santorum’s a weak candidate and his momentum won’t translate nationally. Why people are even rallying behind this duplicitous goofball, is beyond me.

You’re wrong! If we don’t like the outcome, it must be corrupt. Can’t be that the Romney vote tally is close to the 2008 numbers, that he ran a smart campaign (something we shouldn’t pay attention to), and that a caucus process is fairly decentralized and difficult to fix. It’s corrupt! Corrupt!

Freepers can like Mitt or not (I’ve been trying to stomach him till the McCain endorsement raised my level of bile again) – but I do wish people would be a bit more sane.

He’s the Representative of the California 8th Congressional district and former Speaker of the House?

I havegot to start keeping up with this stuff.

He is every bit as slimy and dis-honest as any DemonRat and the fix is in for ‘his’ candidate Romney!

Rove gave us Obama .. through Bush

What’s the matter, Bunky? Dontcha lurvs your Commander Codpiece no more? You guys used to kiss his ass like it was the Pope’s ring and you were taking your last breath.

and BY GOD .. He is going to SHOVE Romney down our throats whether we like it or not!

Well, it’s still better than having Santorum shoved up your ass.

The B@$$-TURD doesn’t really give a D@MN if Romney or Obama wins because for him .. “It’s All Good”!

He’s an Elitists and part of the “Livin Large” crowd that has Long Ago, taken power and YOU? .. You’re one of “Those” little people!

Quick NOLA Update

I’m in Dr. A’s office at LSU Med School. We can’t use social media here but I snuck in the back door to First Draft. My fingers are crossed that this will post. First Draft is also verboten. Imagine that. Must be the foul mouthed ferrets or something. The first night was scary but now we’re just bored and sweaty: Adrastos World HQ still doesn’t have power. Oh well, at least I missed Mittfest but I also missed the Crack Van. I’m going to try and post this to facebook and the tweeter tube so if any of my NOLA … Continue reading Quick NOLA Update

Oh HELL NO

I would give Michael Vick a puppy first: Shortly after his release from a U.S. prison this past spring, The Canadian Press wrote a storysuggesting we’d see a different Conrad Black. The national news service interviewed Black’s friends and colleagues who opined that the former media baron would be calmer, less bombast and more averse to publicity — a “Conrad Black lite” if you will. In reality, however, it’s the same old same old. In the midst of his very public battle to keep his Order of Canada, Black, 67, is in the media spotlight again hinting that he might … Continue reading Oh HELL NO
