Jamie O wrote an excellent post about the Fascist MAGA rally at the Garden, so all I have to do is touch on it. Thanks, man.
I almost never get upset by the news, but the Nazi stuff gets me every time. As I said last week in my Don’t Know Much About History post:
“Trump’s Hitler fixation has always baffled me. Trump supposedly hates losers; Adolf Hitler is one of the BIGGEST LOSERS in history. I don’t expect Trump to revile Hitler’s ideology, but he should revile his status as a BIG LOSER. What is it: The uniforms, the goosestepping troops, the lust for absolute power?”
The extreme tone of the second Nazi rally in Madison Square Garden’s history caught the legacy media by surprise. They were actually direct about it for a change, even the useless pukes at Axios. Allow me to steal this link parade from TPM:
- NYT: A Closing Carnival of Grievances, Misogyny and Racism
- Axios: MAGA speakers unleash ugly rhetoric at Trump’s MSG rally
- Politico: Trump’s New York homecoming sparks backlash over racist and vulgar remarks
- WaPo: Trump rally speakers lob racist insults, call Puerto Rico ‘island of garbage’
The guy who trashed Puerto Rico is Tony Hinchliffe DBA Kill Tony. The only good thing about his alleged jokes is that they freaked out Rick Scott. Senator Bat Boy is running for reelection in a state with many Puerto Rican voters who fled to Florida after Hurricane Maria. I hope they vote against every GOPer in sight. This should also serve as a wakeup call to any Latinos voting for Trump or considering doing so: Run like hell away from this racist dictator wannabe.
The Kaiser of Chaos may still think he’s winning but his handlers do not. They made no attempt to moderate or modify the speakers list on Sunday. Campaign honcho Chris LaCivita is a vile human being but knows this sort of rhetoric is repellent to everyone except the MAGA base and the candidate to whom he sold his soul such as it is.
Repeat after me: Campaigns are about addition, not subtraction.
Win or lose Team Trump plans to wreak havoc on our civic society. Trump will claim victory; if it’s a squeaker, the MAGA maggots will agitate for a Congressional do-over after litigation fails. That’s why it’s imperative for Team Harris to run up the score. I think the demographics of the early vote in the swing states supports this possibility: it’s tilted toward women voters. Perhaps the cult of the savvy will take notice.
One of the best things I’ve seen about post-election turmoil comes from Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez:
“This was a hate rally. This was not just a presidential rally, this was also not just a campaign rally. I think it’s important for people to understand these are mini January 6 rallies, these are mini Stop the Steal rallies. These are rallies to prime an electorate into rejecting the results of an election if it doesn’t go the way that they want.”
They know they’re losing, so I do. So do the poll aggregators who were mocked on Twitter by two prominent Never Trumpers:

FYI, Nate Silver is no longer to be taken seriously. He works for JD Vance’s owner Peter Thiel.
Josh Marshall wrote a typically excellent post about the state of race: Uncertain, But Not Necessarily Close. The title says it all.
I’m not certain about the outcome either BUT my gut feels some similarities to 1980 in reverse. It had been a close fought election, but Carter’s support collapsed in the last week and the late deciders voted for Reagan. I don’t expect an electoral college landslide similar to 1980: Reagan had help from John Anderson’s independent candidacy. What I hope for is a larger margin in the popular vote that will help carry the swing states and help House and Senate candidates win. I could be wrong but, as always, I prefer to err on the side of optimism.
The Three Stooges featured image is a reminder that fascism and buffoonery go together like hot dogs and mustard. I have two pieces of advice for our readers: don’t lose your sense of humor and don’t wet the bed.
The musical last word goes to Traffic:
The countdown last word goes to Harold Lloyd who’s still hanging in there:

Trump’s campaigns are about Ambition, Distraction, Uglification and Derision.
