Lies and hyperbole characterize everything about Trump’s Iran War. The Insult Comedian sounds more like the used car salesman in chief than POTUS. In his shitty speech this week he claimed that Iranian air defenses were decimated and obliterated. Then they shot down 2 American planes. I’m pleased that the pilots have been rescued but this incident confirms this as the bluster and bullshit war. Decimated and obliterated, my ass.

Charlie Pierce has thoughts about Team MAGA’s use of language:

I wrote about Pete Hegseth’s lethal misuse of the mother tongue last week, Dumb McNamara’s Vice Signaling. It’s President Pennywise’s turn in the linguistic barrel, especially after this profane social media rant:

I have a high tolerance for cursing. I have, after all, written many “so and so can go fuck themself”  and “fuck yeah” posts. But presidents should keep their profanity private. Harry Truman had a potty mouth but knew that public cussing was beneath the dignity of the office. The current occupant, however, is an undignified Insult Comedian with a dead nutria pelt atop his head. He’s a wrecker, not a builder notwithstanding his obsession with his fakakta ballroom, which will be the biggest and best thing ever built in the history of the universe. The bluster and bullshit are contagious.

I remember when Joe Biden scandalized the media by whispering to President Obama that passing the ACA was a “big fucking deal.” Trump’s latest outburst *should* scandalize everyone, not for the F bomb but for his bragging about committing war crimes. That’s what decimating civilian infrastructure is: a war crime. Dumb McNamara may dismiss “stupid rules of engagement” but anything that reduces the savagery of war should be encouraged.

Does the Tuesday “deadline” indicate that he’s planning to make it a TACO Tuesday as in Trump Always Chickens Out? Beats the hell outta me but Trump is in touch with his unconscious self. In fact, he appears to be unconscious much of the time.

The world is a safer place when that stupid motherfucker is asleep. Stay down, Donald.

WaPo refugee Shane Harris now writes for The Atlantic. He’s a national security specialist whose latest piece is The Real Intelligence Failure In Iran. Harris argues that our spooks did a good job assessing Iran’s strengths and weaknesses. The problem is that the Kaiser of Chaos was too busy writing demented social media posts to heed the warnings; so he was shocked when Iran retaliated. The real failure of intelligence was in the Oval Office.

Repeat after me: Donald Trump can go fuck himself. That’s not bluster and bullshit. It’s the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
