I think there has always been about a third of the country’s populace that secretly wanted a monarchy or a fascist strongman. Even in the days of the American Revolution, about a third of the country were loyalists. It doesn’t surprise me that we have the same proportion of boot-kissers now.

Taking this further, I can’t remember the percentage that are at least 1 std. dev. below the average, but I’m wanting to say its somewhere around 25 to 30%.

The only critique is that we’re not talking intelligence / IQ. Instead, in this case, we’re talking about the ability to see reality.
