Somebody Owes Me A Pony

Gallup:

PRINCETON, NJ — President George W. Bush’s job approval rating has dropped to 28%, the lowest of his administration. Bush’s approval is lower than that of any president since World War II, with the exceptions of Jimmy Carter (who had a low point of 28% in 1979), and Richard Nixon and Harry Truman, who suffered ratings in the low- to mid-20% range in the last years of their administrations.

Doesn’t that actually put him near the middle of the handful of presidents we’ve had? (in terms of absolute lows?)
As a nation we’re either fickle or really really dumb.

I suppose you have to look on the bright side if you’re a Republican looking to keep the faith. His popularity is still well above pond scum.

There is a certain trendline here not in evidence with better presidents (i.e. all of the other ones).

Jonathan Singer over at MyDD noticed that the 67%disapproval number beat Richard Nixon’s worst, and tied Harry Truman for the highest ever recorded in a Gallup poll.
Somebody owes Holden a pony for that, too – and with the economy still tanking and Iraq flaring up again, I expect Bush will hold the disapproval record by the time he stands up at the GOP convention and kills John “Cylon” McCain’s post-convention bounce.
