  1. I went to a wedding on Saturday. Two lovely women who clearly love each other deeply. In Colorado, they still can’t be joined “officially,” but in their minds, this is their committment to each other. It was a wonderful service, and a joy to be there to share in that moment with them.
All those people in California getting married now, all at once…damn, that much happiness has to have some positive effect on the world, doesn’t it?

    They can in California.
Unlike Massachusetts, you don’t have to be a resident of California to be married in California. In the eyes of the state of California, they would be official.
(And if the US Supreme Court ever rules on the (un)constitutionality of the ‘Defense of Marriage Act’ – and rules correctly – the ‘full faith and credit’ clause of the Constitution will make them official everywhere.)
