Good morning everyone!
This week’s post will be a short one due to some back issues, so please forgive the brevity and enjoy the levity.
First off, a refresher on protocol for entering and leaving the area where the Free Republic posts are stored:
Everybody suited up?
Good – let’s take a look at the Freepers’ reaction to RNC chairman Michael Steele’s announcement of the new “def fresh” approach to GOP outreach:

(CNN) — Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele says
his party is going to launch an “off the hook” public relations
campaign that will update the GOP’s image by translating it to
“urban-suburban hip-hop settings.”
The new GOP leader told the
Washington Times that the party’s defeat in states such as North
Carolina and Virginia made it clear they needed a new approach.
“We
need messengers to really capture that region — young, Hispanic, black,
a cross section…” he said in an interview published Thursday. “We want
to convey that the modern-day GOP looks like the conservative party
that stands on principles. But we want to apply them to urban-surburban
hip-hop settings.”
He added, jokingly, that “we need to uptick our image with everyone, including one-armed midgets.”
One armed midgets. And black people, too.
See if you can count the number of black people and one-armed midgets in this photo:
Freepers are enthusiastic.
Wait, that’s not the word I’m looking for.
Empathetic? No.
Apprehensive? Reserved?
Got it! Horrified.

Never discount the one-armed midgets demographic. In ten years, they may be the majority in Oregon.
the image that the average voter has of a Republican is something out
of a Looney Toons cartoon—fat, old, bald male working on Wall Street in
a three-piece suit.
And of course, since a lot more white people are collecting welfare than black people, this endangers our ability to keep our constituents in mayo and ho-hos.

What…have Vanilla Ice as a spokesman? Why dont we get Biz Markie and Sir Mix-A-Lot while we are at it?
You bring in new voters by being true to your strong conservative
message…which will be very important in 10 and 12 with Stimulus Bill
Beginning to wonder if Steele is a DNC plant…the dude is a freaking liberal…

As there’s already a surfeit of “Biz Markup” and “CPAC Shakur” jokes ricocheting around the blogosphere, I’ll refrain from adding my own comments here.

(Give me back my conservative vote.)
Steele a chance. Well, he’s had his chance. Looks like I’m done with
the GOP for a few more years.

Nah – last year you were in trouble.
This year you’re irrelevant.
Well, that’s it for this abbreviated edition of Obsession With The Freeperati – gonna go get horizontal.
VirgoTex – you have the conn.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Nothing like having front row seats for the death of The GOP.
Rebranding The GOP as hip and urban, good luck with that. We’ve already seen what happens when old, pasty white men try to bust a move.
Racist Freepi are racist.
A.
Wow. I find myself agreeing with the Freepers here.
First, in my generation “off the hook” means certifiably insane. Even the GOP base should have picked up on this bad idea.
And as mentioned above, picturing Sarah Palin doing rap to appear relevant?????????
