Weekend Question Thread: Unkept Promises Edition

We’re a week into the New Year, which probably means most of the resolutions we’ve made have been broken already. I know I’m already off the junk food wagon. Every time I promise myself I’m gonna eat healthier something happens, like a big project or something, and I just decide eh, fuck it, I’m going to Chipotle for lunch. Again.

What promise do you make to yourself, and then break?

  1. i don’t consider that falling off the wagon – i consider that acting appropriately to the situation, and as the situation is constantly changing, the best thing is to have the ability to change with it. just think of yourself as flexible – a necessary trait to have in this modern world. (i never make promises – that’s just asking for trouble.) cheers and thanks for all your work.

  2. I never make these promises to myself precisely because I know I will break them.
However, I’ve been working on a short story for about a year now and every time I tell my group I will have the finished version at the next meeting, I never do. And yeah I feel pretty bad about that.

  3. Still exercising, despite my knee. Never had a reason to actually proclaim that, ’cause I never resolved to anything like that remotely close to New Year’s, ever ever. BUT I fell off the no junk food wagon today, myself.
