On Wednesday Matt Gaetz let us know that the GOP is finally clued in that it has a problem with women. Gaetz had a solution too:
Gaetz explains why Republicans don’t need women voters: “For every Karen we lose, there’s a Julio and a Jamaal ready to sign up for the MAGA movement.” pic.twitter.com/IqZcSYQGbg

I don’t know what to tell you about that train wreck of racism. Actually, yes I do: it’s all magical thinking. Gaetz is clearly relying on some questionable polling from December that showed TFG polling really well among Black and Hispanic voters.
That polling has had a few deep dives that Gaetz would benefit from reading. So the proposed solution is already a bust (nobody tell the GOP though, OK?).
Once you get past Gaetz’s straight up racism, no chaser, you’re left with the breezy sexism of his Karen remark, and the ease with which he threw women out of the Republican Party. The Karen comment is especially galling since the reason that Republican women are complaining is because they have lost the right to personal body autonomy. But in the male GOP’s eyes that’s the same as a woman complaining to the manager that she didn’t have enough olives in her salad.
I hope the DNC sent Gaetz a big gift basket as a thank you this morning.
I’ll let a favorite Karen sing us out:

The GOP has become an authoritarian autocracy unto itself. It just keeps purging anyone who even slightly disagrees with the party orthodoxy or has a competing opinion on how to win elections. It’s an insular subcultural thing.
So, Gaetz thinks the GOP can just purge those women voters next. sure 🙄
What Cid said.
