It’s Different For Girls

I was out of commission last week, but catching up I saw that TFG had a typical week:  lying about hurricane help for Americans in North Carolina and Florida, going off on tangents about various groups of immigrants at rallies, etc. We found out he sent sophisticated Covid testing machines to Putin, and kept up a lively phone relationship with him as well, all the while sitting on a trove of classified documents that he stole from the White House after he finally left office.

He hawked Make America Great Again bibles (made in China), weird crypto stuff he does not understand, and is currently running a money laundering endeavor where you may or may not receive a watch in return for your six-figure “donation”. Oh, and he invited a weirdo, maniacal racist onto his rally stage, and did nothing to tamp down rumors that he is going to let that asshole take a large role in a possible future administration.

None of this seems to matter to the old guard press. It’s exciting copy and anything that keeps the illusion of a horse race election must be safeguarded and promoted at all cost. For example, here’s a Politico “reporter” whose entire effort at reporting was cutting and pasting some verbal farts TFG spewed:

And TFG made some appearances in friendly media havens where everyone pretended that he was making perfect sense. Well except one podcast host who still has a grip on reality:

And then TFG went full eugenics with his disgusting comments about immigrants and genes. And I was stupid enough to think that might shake up the old guard press. Nope.

Meanwhile, back on the campaign trail, VP Harris had been busy doing interviews to reach undecided voters, young women, men of all ages, older women, and just people who wanted to know more about her. She even sat for a weird and insulting interview with Bill Whittaker at 60 Minutes who at one point literally muted her in-progress response, summarized with his own words, and then proceeded to add more of his words instead of letting her speak. I’m still not over that blatant display of sexism and disrespect against the sitting VP.

And although VP Harris said nothing incorrect, counterfactual, misleading, untrue, or offensive during her media trip, the old guard press was furious with her, mainly because she refused to sit and subject herself to more of the “Trump said” bullshit she had to deal with on 60 Minutes.

In fact, the thing that had them buzzing the loudest was that she didn’t have some dramatic answer to the question about how her administration would differ from…Joe Biden’s administration. No, you read that right—the old guard media is tired of VP Harris’ harshing their collective mellow by constantly offering substantive criticism of TFG. Instead they demanded that she tear down her previous running mate.

Now in a world where your entire life isn’t run by your precious feelings and how you obsess over what every political figure thinks of you, this is a normal response. Joe Biden is a popular president among Democrats and he has had significant success as president, with the most significant accomplishments since The New Deal. Why would VP Harris tear him down? Those are her accomplishments too, right?

Well, here is how it got spun by the NY Times:

VP Harris can’t win with the old guard media. Why? Because as Joe Jackson said, it’s different for girls.

Here’s the song. Let’s keep doing what we need to do to get her elected.

  1. What’s everybody on about? The Times said “bob and weave,” not “shuck and jive,” so all very cool, very legal. Oh, and don’t hold your breath waiting for any reporter to ask the felon if he would do anything differently in a second term from how he conducted himself in the first term. But that’s just journalism.
