There’s an ongoing debate among liberals about Never Trumpers. I come down on the side of working with them. When your house is on fire, you don’t ask the firefighters who they voted for in the last election. Our national house is ablaze and the arsonist in chief wants to reoccupy the executive mansion.
The Lincoln Project has been spitting out anti-Trump ads rapid fire. Their latest effort has to be seen to be believed:
The venerable phrase “out of the mouths of babes” has never been more relevant. Political ads featuring children have long been effective. This is the best I’ve seen since this 1964 ad by Team Johnson blew up the Goldwater campaign:
The Kaiser of Chaos will have his finger on the nuclear button if returned to office. I’ve called him worse than Nixon many times, he’s also worse that the 1964 edition of Barry Goldwater. Oddly enough, I think Goldwater would be a Never Trumper in 2024. He moved to the center-right after his defeat in 1964, supported gay and abortion rights, and threatened to kick Jerry Falwell “up the ass” for being a theocrat.
The featured image is by revered World War II artist Bill Mauldin. It was Mauldin’s visceral response to the Kennedy assassination. It also captures Lincoln’s likely response to the fascist takeover of his party. A reminder that in Lincoln’s day, the GOP was the liberal party. Things have certainly changed: it’s now a party led by a guy who won’t denounce Hitler out of fear of losing neo-Nazi votes. In a word: Disgusting.
The musical last word goes to Warren Zevon:
The countdown last word goes to Harold Lloyd:

With all due respect I don’t think Trump refused to denounce Hitler for fear of losing his Nazi voters. I’m sure he won’t denounce Hitler because Trump likes and admires Hitler. Occam’s Razor and all that jazz.
