Talkin’ Bout The TikTok Generation

I suspect many of our readers have cancelled their Washington Post subscription. Jeff Bezos shot himself in the foot with the non-endorsement thing and his subsequent apologia. I kept my subscription because the Post’s coverage of Trump has been tougher than that of the NYT. I didn’t feel like rewarding the NYT for its Harris endorsement while chucking the WaPo. I respect those of you who have unsubscribed. But like Lindsey Buckingham, I go my own way.

When I saw this headline, I was glad to have stayed on the sinking ship: Trump’s ‘grab them’ comment was history. Now TikTok is showing it to young voters.

I don’t frequent TikTok but I’m thrilled that the Access Hollywood recording is back. If not for Jim Comey’s grandstanding in 2016, it could have-should have-cost the Insult Comedian the election. In 2024, it’s back with a vengeance:

“Many first-time voters were young teens in 2016 when The Washington Post first reported the incident, in which the former president seemed to endorse sexual assault during a behind-the-scenes conversation on an “Access Hollywood” set when he didn’t realize his microphone was on. Despite widespread criticism of Trump’s comments at the time, he went on to win the 2016 presidential election, and the mainstream news cycle moved on.

Now, the generation that came of age during the #MeToo era is turning to social media for information about candidates and elections — 39 percent of young adults say they frequently get their news from TikTok, according to Pew Research. This week, many said on the social network they were shocked by the former president’s words and confused why the episode wasn’t a dealbreaker in 2016.

“I don’t think any of my friends had heard it,” said Kate Sullivan, a 21-year-old student in Ohio who heard the tape for the first time on her TikTok For You feed this week. “We all felt equally shocked.”

People her age have less tolerance for sexual misconduct after growing up amid a series of high-profile harassment and assault cases involving major celebrities, Sullivan said. She immediately felt compelled to share the audio in her own video, with the superimposed text, “Fathers are voting for this man.” The video has been viewed 2.5 million times and was reshared by singer Billie Eilish to her 68 million followers.”

Thanks to Kate and Billie for sharing the Insult Comedian’s infamous words.

I hope some of the young’uns who were shocked by the tape give their parents a stern talking to for even considering supporting this sex pest. They might even learn that mom is voting for Kamala, not the rapist.

How many times do I have to tell you that Trump is not bulletproof?

Vote against the rapist, it’s important.

Repeat after me: Donald Trump is a pussy. He should grab himself. That goes for Jeff Bezos as well.

The last word goes to The Who:

  1. 🤔😳 Here’s an interesting tidbit in the last weekend before we have a President-elect Harris: Donald Trump’s favorite neo-Nazi dinner date, Nick Fuentes, had a mental breakdown and screamed, “Liberals are right! This is a cult and we all need to get out of it!” Apparently, the sight of people wearing garbage bags and saying “we are garbage” to own the libs is a bridge too far for this crazy Holocaust-denier!! 🤪
