When El Salvador made headlines a few weeks ago by offering to house violent American prisoners in their country (for a fee, of course), I said don’t worry, DJT will never do that once it dawns on him that he’d rather use those folks for cheap labor to build the Trump Gaza.
I probably said it in two or three places. So now I feel like I kinda Beetlejuice’d this batshit crazy video and idea along a bit further. I’m sorry. I won’t make any more jokes.
If by chance you didn’t see that video last week, sound on because the vocal really ties this rubber room together. If you’re quick, you’ll spot the probably less intentional bearded dancers (another proud moment for AI!). Warning: the grand finale is barechested Don and Bibi hanging by the pool. Full clip in this NPR article.
The layers of wrongness in this Trump Gaza video would be plentiful if they arrived via your crazy uncle’s chain email, but it’s something else entirely as an official White House communication. Silver lining: the combination of offensive policy and trampled conflict of interest principles do reinforce focus on the overarching goal of this administration:
Make “abuse of power” a quaint and impossible concept. There is power and there is no-power, and if you have power, you are either using it or you’re not.
I’m already looking forward to the next bit of AI-generated promo genius, featuring Putin on a surfboard and Don Jr. rolling into a gentlemen’s club called The Gaza Strip. I’m also looking forward to the shift from occasionally guest-posting as Parenthetical to a standing Tuesday morning appointment here at First Draft, thanks to Peter’s kind invitation.
Until then, the last word goes to Robin Gibb, reminding you to be careful what you joke about.
