There’s a special election today for the Florida House seat vacated by Mike Waltz of Signalgate infamy. It should be a slam dunk for Republicans since Trump won the district in a landslide, but it is NOT because of the backlash to the illegal Trump-Musk wilding. Another reason is a horrible candidate who’s an asshole even by MAGA standards. And that is why Randy Fine is malaka of the week.
Some of the same ingredients that led to Jeff Landry’s political bloody nose in Louisiana are at work in Fine’s race against Democrat Josh Weil. GOPers have been overconfident because Waltz won the seat by 33 points and Weil is a political newcomer. BUT it’s a district with a large population of retirees, which means DOGE’s attacks on Social Security and Medicare are backfiring.
Then there’s the candidate.
Randy Fine loves the sound of his own voice. In fact, he never shuts up. In the Florida lege, he’s known as a trash talking gadfly who focuses on culture war issues. Fine never met an enemy he didn’t make or a good cause that he didn’t trash. The mouthy malakatude, it burns.
Fine is also a Bibi Netanyahu mini-me who engaged in this bizarre exchange with his opponent:
“As chair of the Senate Committee on Governmental Oversight and Accountability he held a hearing on a bill to keep public employees from being required to use people’s preferred pronouns. He restricted public comments to 30 seconds. He called out after one man who had stepped up to the podium wearing a keffiyeh.
“Enjoy your terrorist rag,” Fine said.
That triggered a predictable uproar among the spectators.
“I’m the chairman,” Fine said. “I can say what I want. If you don’t like it you can leave.”
Weil responded, “Randy Fine has no respect for Floridians and people who disagree with him. His comments are always intended to fearmonger—he is not the type of leader who will be looking out for FL-06 voters, only for himself.”
Fine’s reply was classic Fine, which is to say mini-Trump, including name-calling.
“And so, of course, he wants to legitimize the use of this terrorist rag, just like the Nazis wanted to legitimize the use of the swastika. It is no different. He believes in Muslim terror. He’s not afraid to say it. And voters have to decide, do they want jihad Josh Weil? Or do they want someone like me who’s willing to fight for American values?”
Say what? Bigotry and name-calling are MAGA values, not American values. Oy, just oy.

In addition to his verbal diarrhea, Fine is a Twitter-X keyboard warrior:
Fine denied that this 2022 tweet was a threat to then President Biden. The only embarrassment involved was this fakakta Florida Man himself. What rhymes with fakakta? Malaka.

The last thing Congress needs is another performative wingnut spewing hatred on the House floor. There’s a chance he’ll never get there. The polls show a close race. Win or lose, it’s another sign that the MAGA agenda is only popular with those who have bathed in the Trumpist Kool-Aid.
One of Fine’s enemies is Ron (The Louse) DeSantis who held the Florida-6 seat before becoming Governor. Fine initially supported The Louse for president before crawling back to the Insult Comedian. The Louse has preemptively knifed Malaka Fine:
“I will tell you this, regardless of the outcome in that it’s going to be a way under performance,” DeSantis said of the special election. “They’re going to try to lay that at the feet of President Trump. That is not a reflection of President Trump. It’s a reflection of the specific candidate running in that race, and President Trump, if he were on the ballot in this special election, he would win by 30 points, no question.”
Another day, another lie from the washed-up presidential contender. Randy Fine *is* a terrible candidate but his mouthy malakatude is straight out of the Insult Comedian’s playbook. The mere fact that this race is as tight as a tick is another sign that the MAGA agenda is a disaster not only for the country but for Republican candidates. Even if Josh Weil falls short, it will be a symbolic victory. If nothing else, he’s proven that middle school teachers know how to deal with mouthy bullies.
Randy Fine is just a symptom of the Trumpist disease afflicting the country. Here’s hoping the voters will tell him to STFU and deny this bigoted bozo the chance to bring his third rate Insult Comedian shtick to Congress. And that is why Randy Fine is malaka of the week.
