The Bullshit Party Rages On

Yeah, it’s a Democratic hoax and also Trump’s an FBI informant trying to stop it, yeah that’s the ticket.

During COVID, the Republican Party couldn’t quite make up its mind.

Their Dear Leader, the Rotting Semi-Sentient Carrot, at first declared that by Easter the pandemic would be over, then it was a hoax (lotsa videos of empty hospital parking lots claiming that nothing was going on which was news to the people inside dealing with horrible death).

Then Trump and the right started telling people to ingest bleach, shine lights into their body, and take horse medicine. All the while declaring that they won’t wear masks because the disease was a hoax and not real.

This has been a hallmark of the GOP in the Trump era. When you decide not to make sense and say whatever you want, it’s very freeing. The GOP has followed Trump’s lead in the realm of delusional madness, where you can say things like this:

in which Mike Johnson claims that Donald Trump was an FBI informant to take down Epstein

First off, yeah, we really should be talking about Epstein. It’s a political weak spot for Trump, and oh yeah, letting him slide would make Epstein’s hundreds of victims feel even more despair, and no, we shouldn’t be doing that. And in this case, there’s another opportunity for Democrats to bury Trump under his own bullshit.

So, Contender for Worst Christian Mike Johnson is doing his Speaker of the House duty, which is covering for Donald Trump no matter what, as opposed to the normal duty of the Speaker of the House, which is to be part of the checks and balances of the American System. RIP. Making laughably stupid claims to support Trump that the media actually takes seriously is part of the job. It flies in the face of the go-to Trump claim about Epstein:

It’s a Democratic Hoax. I guess the idea that Trump was an informant about a hoax is easier to swallow if you believed in taking horse medication for a “hoax.”

Now, Johnson walked it back in a way that only a lying liar who has a history of lying does, pretending it was a mistake. Yeah, that’s a helluva mistake. “The current president was an FBI informant trying to take down the world’s most influential sex trafficker” is not exactly a mere slip of the tongue.

If we had a better press, this epic failure in handling the Epstein case would do a lot more damage to Trump, however, Epstein is still not going away for Donnie. Last week we saw Congresspersons and victims of Epstein conducting a press conference where they pledged to get all of the files released and also dropped hints they may release their own Epstein list. Remarkably, we were not all wiped out by an asteroid when this happened but Professional Horrifying Person Marjorie Taylor Greene was there and said things I agree strongly with. You know, this meme:

Manuela Malasaña on X: "i just realized that most people think the guy in the "worst person you know" article is the worst person you know but i always thought it was "

So, Trump and his allies’ attempts to claim that he was, actually, an FBI informant, yeah that’s the ticket, and oh by the way it’s also a Dem hoax do not seem to be working very well. Let’s hope this becomes a trend where bullshit is no longer as effective, but I’m not holding my breath.

The last word goes to the Talking Heads from their classic concert film Stop Making Sense.

  1. Whatever you think Trump was doing with Epstein: it’s worse than you think.
It’s worse than you CAN think.
