Meet Representative Riley “Rick Rattler” Moore

I’ve written a few times about my MAGA House rep, Riley Moore. Riley is a fatuous nepo baby, the grandson of a felonious governor, and the nephew of the President Grievance bootlicker Shelley Moore Capito. You may have seen his own bootlicking on full display earlier this week:

Rep. Riley Moore on Iran: "Of course it's another masterstroke by the president, who's ended multiple conflicts in his term. This is gonna be another one that's gonna go down in the history books as one of the great peace deals he's done."

First, it’s important to note that Riley thinks he is a super cool dood:

Second, he’s a truly awful person. You might have noticed that there has been a major vibe shift around the president’s perceived invincibility with MAGAts, and Riley has responded to that by taking his white hood out of storage and ramping up his racist rhetoric. He really does deserve only scorn and mockery. So let me tell you about his time as a rocker.

I was alerted to this hitherto to me unknown career path by one of my WV mutuals on Twitter (always Twitter, never X). The first thing you notice is that a lot of his band’s history has been scrubbed from the Internet, which leads you to suspect that he might be ashamed of the time he spent in front of the footlights. Hmm.

I started off with a Twitter account dedicated to preserving this important piece of history, RATTLER Fan Club. I won’t make you wait for a clip of the band in action:

They must have been awesome. But why would Riley have worked so hard to erase that time of his life? He evidently saw it as a liability:

During the Snyder-Moore race, Snyder and his campaign called out Moore, who sang in the punk-rock band Rattler as “Rick Rattler,” leading to condemnation from the state Democratic Party for what its officials claim were the promotion of drug use, violence and assault against women. Moore won the race by 96 votes of 8,364 ballots cast.

Here’s that WV Democratic Party’s condemnation as rescued by the Internet Archive:

And here are some of the lyrics that the WV Dems called out:

OK so typical rock and roll lyrics from someone with no writing talent, no imagination, and no creativity. Perfect Trumper band stuff.

How about this one?

I made y’all read that one because I had to read it and I don’t want to suffer alone. “The more I drink the more my snake starts to grow.” Mmhmm. That is some kick ass writing. Also I think I threw up a little in my mouth.

And yes, this is all just stupid stuff from an extraordinary dim human who doesn’t have enough talent to hold down a job. But also in that last song, there is one thing I can’t overlook as just sex, drugs, and rock and roll:

Girl you think you safe with me/I’ll leave you drunk in a ditch cause I gotta move on

There’s something seriously wrong with someone whose rock and roll fantasy includes hurting women. It explains a lot about why he is so immediately off-putting. And he really does not belong in Congress. Happily he has an excellent Democratic opponent.

I’ll leave you with this:
