Terrorists Attack Satirical French Publication

NYT story.

A little more than a year ago I was in Paris, not too far from where the Charlie Hebdo offices are. The idea of that beautiful, vital city suffering under this assault is profoundly upsetting.

I’ll have more later. But for now just let me say I welcome support for freedom of the press 365 days a year, not just on days when attacks against the press come from alleged Islamic terrorists. And I’ll be ignoring any stalwart defenses of that press freedom from the type of assholes who like to joke about Timothy McVeigh blowing up the New York Times building.

And you’ll pardon me if I also ignore sympathy with France from the same people who championed Freedom Fries and poured French wine down sewers when the French refused to support our great Iraqi adventure.
