Hey First Draft Faithful! I have an opportunity to interview IN New Orleans!!! It’s a ray (no pun intended) of sunshine in a wretched couple of months as my boyfriend finally let me know that NOTHING for us was going to get better (my inner-PollyAnna is of Hulk-strength). So, since I am going to move out of here anyway and back into town, I figured I might as well look at seeing if anything was possible for me in New Orleans…
Lo’ and behold – I have an offer to be flown over for an interview!!!???!!! 🙂 Damn, but rents have reached killer status… :^P Unless salaries for professionals have adjusted for the increase, I am gonna be in a hovel unless I live out of town (which negates being there). It was my dream and fervent hope to be able to move to New Orleans by the time I was 40 (which is in just over a month…eeep!), and the federal levees bursting kind of killed that dream. But I figure, hey, if I can’t have my man, I might be able to have my city afterall…??? 🙂 I am so jazzed, but I would LOVE to make more New Orleans’ connections – I have some regular places I love to hang out at (that survived the flooding).
I will be happy to do my darnedest to see someone defeat Jindal. (gads, I remember Halloween of ’03 when going through Frenchmen St, some fellow said he ‘was’ Bobby Jindal and I do believe it was someone making fun of him! 🙂 ).
So, if any of y’all are interested in making friends with a sister First Drafter and chillin’ in Nola – do let me know. I would LOVE to meet y’all! 🙂
