I’ll give Bush that immediately after 9/11 there were extraordinary circumstances and a lot of things were needed fast where the proper channels didn’t exist to get them. Under such circumstances, a leader does what needs to be done **AND** realizes that they bear the responsibility and culpability for what they did.
However, this is now 7 years later. We have had the time to formulate the proper channels. Why should we still need immunity when we have a proper court to review warrants at a moments notice. By saying we need to include immunity, is Shrub saying that he hasn’t done his job of setting up proper channels?

immediately after 9/11 we needed a law enforcement step up to find those who conspired with the small group that flew airplanes into buildings here. We had that already. No further laws were needed. An administration that was awake to the threats that always exist in the world was needed. We still don’t have that.
