Ruthie the Duck Girl
thanks Scout. I wouldn’t presume to gauge her on a New Orleanian scale, but Ruthie was, it seems to me, quintessentially American. She continued to recreate herself.
This just breaks my heart. My favorite take:
“She’s not out of touch with reality; she’s just not interested,” [said] photographer David Richmond…
The world would be richer with more people like her.
ruthie was part of the scenery in the old french quarter, and when i was young
she frightened me. that fur coat, that bridal veil, those roller skates! hey, i liked the ducks.
find peace, ruthie.
georgee killed her too.
i am glad there is a place for a ruthie kinda of person.
