‘George Wallace Looks Great for a 90-Year-Old’

And other commentary on the Arizona search-the-illegals-or-you-know-people-you-racist-fucks-might-think-are-illegals-because-you-stopped-paying-attention-in-sixth-grade-and-also-flunked-humanity lawhere:

“It also makes it illegal to impede the flow of traffic by picking
up day laborers for work. A day laborer who gets picked up for work,
thus impeding traffic, would also be committing a criminal act.”

Yeah the *day laborer* is the criminal not the American who is
driving the goddamn car that’s ‘impeding the flow of traffic’ and
hiring them off the books for less than minimum wage. He’s just a
God-ferrin cap-pi-tal-list– yeesirre! Gotta love having people working
for you who you can have the cops haul off with no repercussions for
you if they ever dare to ask for a raise. It’s bloody AMERICAN.

I really can’t wait until they haul in the first Apache some 76 year
old sunbunny cracker calls the cops on for suspicion of national
trespass. Even though I already know it’s coming, the irony will be
thick enough to drive trucks on, and the resulting court case will put
the state in fucking receivership, which will make me larf and larf and
larf.

You know what makes me crazy about this crap? I mean, aside from the obvious racism and empowerment of short-sightedness and all the usual Minuteman-y hash of machismo and I-dare-ya? It’s not going to help anything. Nothing. No. Thing.

You can stop every Hispanic person on the street and demand his or her passport or green card. You can rifle through the private life of everybody who’s a shade darker than I am (and just for comparison’s sake, I basically glow in the dark). You can arrest and you can harass and you can sue and counter-sue and you can make the entire rest of your natural life about this. Go get a Jeep. Go ride along the border. Go exercise your right to bear arms and buy every gun you can and keep them all under your bed and stay up all night pointing them at illegal immigrants crossing your lawn. Go do all that.

IT ISN’T GOING TO DO ANYTHING. God Almighty, the reason we have the problems we have is that the world is profoundly economically unbalanced and until we fix that, you can build as high a fence around you as you want. Someone will be poor enough, desperate enough, hungry enough for a better life to climb it. No matter what you do. No matter how many people you hassle and fight and lock up. It’s going to keep happening.

All this is just therapy. It’s just nonsense, whispering to children in the dark that the monsters aren’t real.

  1. Having lived in Arizona too long, I can assure you that white natural born citizens will be exiled for giving lip to the gangsters wearing uniforms and badges.
Sherrif Joe Arpaio will exile anyone who even dares to criticize his department. I’ll bet good money on it.

  2. Ever think that the left’s “there’s no way enforcing any laws could do anything, so lets just open the borders to unlimited cheap labor” stance might be forcing a lot of otherwise reasonable people into supporting insane policies?
15 years of stagnant wages followed by 10 years of declining ones. an Unemployment rate that, even highly manipulated to keep the figures down, is nearly at 10%. “There’s nothing we can do” is just not a valid stance to be taking. This sounds suspiciously like telling people to screw off, and that they just have to accept their declining standard of living because they’ve had it too good for too long. Good luck with that argument, but don’t go blaming other people when it fails.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been saying that for so long I can do in it my sleep. What we want to do is flaunt our prosperity in the faces of those poorer than us, and then arrest them if they try to do anything to share in that prosperity. No wealthy country can exist for long, next door to an extremely poor country, especially when the corporations in the wealthy country take full advantage of the poverty wage level in the poor country every chance they get. This is like having a million dollar house in a neighborhood of run-down tenements, and doing nothing to help the neighborhood raise their own living standards.
I have yet to find anyone who agrees with me on this, but my preference is for totally open borders. People should be able to get jobs where ever they can find them, live where ever they can find economical living conditions, own property where ever they can afford it, etc. National borders need to become nothing more than election precinct borders.

  4. Some idjit GOP-er yesterday said the problem with illegal immigration is that Americans won’t take those jobs (shades of McCain’s $25-an-hour lettuce pickers).
But, y’know, Mexico has affordable healthcare. So … um … howzabout we legalize marijuana on this side the border (and tax the holy living fuck out of it like it was tobacco)? If the cartels can’t make buckets of money smuggling, won’t that solve the problem?
(It’ll stop a lot of the killings in Juarez and Nuevo Laredo, in the short term…)
The world’s economy is in the toilet because, largely, of the American gamblers on Wall Street (and their brethren atop the heap of oil companies).
We’ve got to do better. We literally cannot afford not to.

  5. You hit my hot button. The enticement is too great to ever stop the supply of cheap labor . The solution that we can control is on the demand side. As long as you can employee workers for less than minimum wage, with no benefits and no tax contribution small business owners (and homeowners) would be crazy not to do so.
My solution is simple. Lock up and fine anyone that employs an undocumented worker. Make the fine ONE MILLION DOLLARS!! Make the jail time one year per employee – no if’s, and’s or but’s.
Now I would also make it much easier to get work visas and get on a path to full citizenship. Open borders is a little to far for me but I get the thought process.

  6. Here’s what I don’t understand about immigration and the economy: How come, if I go to the bank with a couple of pieces of paper and talk to a mook in a suit for fifteen minutes, I can move massive amounts ofcapital across national borders (in fact, anywhere in the world I want) with minimal regulation and basically no questions asked, but if I want to movemy labour anywhere in the world, I’m suddenly subject to an often years-long process involving intense personal scrutiny?
Seems likethat’s mightyconvenient for the owner class, doesn’t it?
