I remember the “fun” I had paying off my student loans 30 years ago. And now the kids are going more in debt each year than I did in 4.
On the practical side, if we want to be a techno powerhouse, wouldn’t it stand to reason that we made sure that a talented person could obtain the necessary training at a reasonable cost????????
On an item that wouldn’t be as easy a sell to the public, I also hold the education is also discovering oneself and necessarily includes the liberal arts. It is quite apt that the New Deal also included monies for artists.
