Ron Paul supporters arrested as La GOP Shreveport convention splits in two
examiner.com ^ | June 2, 2012 | James Plummer

Posted on Tuesday, June 05, 2012 3:17:51 AM byCasie

Chaos erupted in Shreveport today as police officers arrested state GOP delegates who support Ron Paul for the party’s 2012 presidential nomination.

The dispute arose after the state party’s central committee issued “supplemental rules” earlier this week concerning the delegate selection process. A press release from the Ron Paul campaign this afternoon referred to the 11th hour changes as “illegal rules.”

After fights in the Rules Committee Friday, state party chairman opened the convention moving to pass the new rules, when the majority of delegates moved to elect a new convention chair. When Villere refused to yield the dais, the majority elected a new chair and turned their chairs. As this was happening, the Villere faction convinced the Shreveport Police Department to arrest some of the Paul delegates holding microphones for “trespassing.”

During the forcible arrests, Shreveport police dislocated the hip of the gentlemen in the video here, identified by the Paul campaign as State Central Commiteeman Henry Herford Jr. of Franklin Parish.

Louisiana politics!

Henry Herford Jr. was elected by an overwhelming majority as new convention chair. Mr. Villere, who had appointed himself the convention chairman, refused to yield. When delegates began turning their chairs around, Mr. Herford rose to call the convention to order. Mr. Villere then convinces police to forceably remove Mr. Herford, who is injured and sent to the hospital! Video at source.(My first post. Member since 2004!)

You can’t seize power you legitimately won.

The Ron Paul camp won their delegates fair and square. The LA GOP needs to ask itself why. Not ignore the results because the current leadership wants a different result.Throwing out legit results is not conservative.

1. Rules Chairman loses election
2. The next day, the State Party Chairman proclaims that old Rules Chairman back in to his position
3. The new Rules Chairman(elected by Paul supporters) objects, State Chairman orders him removed from the floor by police
4. Paul supporters make motion to elect new Party Chairman, succeed in voting in their guy
5. Old State Chairman refuses to leave position
6. Paul supporters turn around seats, begin their own convention
7. Old State Chairman orders police to remove Paul supporters and their elected Chairman

I really don’t see how Paul supporters were “disrupting” the convention, unless showing up and voting in person(where the ballots can’t be fixed) is disruptive.

This isn’t going to work out well for anyone.

But you have to agree that Villere and friends can’t simply ignore elected chairmen they do not like and then use excessive police force to enforce their will.

It makes Romney supporters look like strong-arm elite Rhino thugs and further fractures the party. It makes Paul’s people look like champions of conservatism fighting the old Republican establishement.

I want to also mention that after the chaos of the convention, one the Ron Paul people (I can’t remember her name) called the Moon Griffon radio show to saythey came to the convention in the spirit of reconciliation and the intention of conceding some seats to Romney supporters.

How about abstaining from the first vote. Dont vote for anyone in the first round. Lets get a brokered convention so we can get a candidate ALL of us can get behind.

iM telling you right now, no bull sh-t, no lie, If that POS socialist makes it out of the convention as the GOP candidate I WILL work AGAINST his candidacy. I will do EVERYTHING I can to make sure he NEVER sees the inside of the WH as president. Now, multiply that by the MANY MANY MANY others in what used to be the GOP base that will do the same as me.

The GOP wont be losing just voters, they will be losing voters and the most enthusiastic members of the ground game. Heh, not just losing them, the GOP will turn those folks AGAINST their candidate. Great strategery there GOP.

Best case scenario here… Romney gets dumped at the convention and ANYONE ELSE (non-socialist anyone else) gets the nomination.

Rick Perry Endorses Mitt Romney

Texas Gov. Rick Perry originally endorsed Newt Gingrich as the top candidate after dropping out of the Republican presidential race.

But with Gingrich set to quit the campaign trail, Perry on Wednesday evening gave his support to the probable nominee, Mitt Romney.

“Mitt Romney has earned the Republican presidential nomination through hard work, a strong organization, and [a] disciplined message of restoring America after nearly four years of failed job-killing policies from President [Barack] Obama and his administration,” Perry said in a statement provided to FOX News Channel.

“So today I join the many conservative Republicans across the nation in endorsing Mitt Romney for president and pledge to him, my constituents and the Republican Party that I will continue to work hard to help defeat President Obama.

Everyone with a future in Republican politics will be endorsing their party’s selection for presidential nominee. That’s the way the game is played.

Ya see, that’s the whole problem…It’s no longer a game, or business as usual.

The political insiders and their futures, are not the issue. That is what’s left America nearly dead on the floor.

We need a second party.

Perry waited until Gingrich dropped out before endorsing Romney. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Exactly. Palin, Newt, Santorum, Bachmann, and every other influential Republican will be endorsing, supporting and campaigning for him as well. That is kind of the point of a political party. Those that can’t support the nominee now generally have no future within the party going forward.

WOOOHOOO!

Throw your little fits (again). Let’s hear all about your objections (again); go ahead and subject the forum to your irrationality, (again). But keep this in mind, you deserve whatever hell is coming. The thing is, you are dragging the rest of the reasonable, thinking people along with you.

Um – do you know where youare?

Due to the absolute irrationality and unreasonable demands of perfection, we now have Romney. Thank you. I’m sure you are quite representative of the stiff necked, thick skulled people that scream they’re conservative, until a true conservative runs then it’s time to bring out faults from 20 years ago. Contempt doesn’t even begin to describe what you deserve. But you should be satisified because now we are stuck with Romney but at least it’s not that RINO Gov Perry. Thank God for that huh?

Gov Perry is putting differences aside, he will do what is right for the country and will support the nominee. He probably doesn’t like it in this case, but he loves this country more and realizes that Barack Hussein Obama isthe true enemy of this country and of her people.

Personally, Romney makes my skin crawl butI will vote. Unfortunately, if Free Republic is any indication, many will ‘sit’ out or vote 3rd party.

Pity really, that those of you who pulled that stunt in 2008, are going to do it again. McCain part deux. And McCain was actually a stronger candidate than this thing that has bought his ‘turn’ in the procession. Expect the same results, only this time, it will finally slay the United States of America, that once great nation which will be a footnote in history. The commies thank you all.

Do you think FR is more relevant because old-time FReepers were zotted for expressing their opinions?

‘Sluts’ Unite Against Republicans, Rush Limbaugh

Watch out Republicans, here come the sluts.

Women’s rights activists are banding together to “Rock the Slut Vote” in an online effort to register women to vote and cast their ballots against Republicans in 2012.

“If the GOP thinks that throwing the word ‘slut’ at us at this point is going to silence women they have another thing coming,” said Susan McMillan Emry, the site’s founder.

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh thrust the derogatory word into the political arena in February when he called law student Sandra Fluke a “slut” for testifying before Congress in support of contraceptives.

Following the national backlash over Limbaugh’s name-calling, “Rock the Slut Vote” is now aiming to “diffuse” the offensive term, Emry said.

Taking a vein from comedian Jeff Foxworthy and his “You might be a Redneck if…” jokes, Emry’s website gives visitors 22 reasons why “You might be a slut,” including “if you’ve ever used contraception” or “if you’re still downloading Dixie Chicks music” or “if you don’t go to church.”

The site aims to “re-appropriate” the word “slut” so that Limbaugh and other Republicans cannot use it to “bully and silence women,” Emry said.

“It’s really about taking the power away from that word more than it is about Rush Limbaugh,” she said. “He gave the word the notoriety but we are trying to take it back.”

Emry said the “Rush Limbaugh mess” coupled with the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s decision to cut Planned Parenthood funding and recent efforts in state Legislatures to restrict access to abortions and contraceptives “compelled” her to create the site after 56 years on the political sidelines.

Canada recently had its second annual “Slut Walk” in Toronto. Not quite sure what it’s about – they were a weird bunch, no doubt. All I remember is them saying something about “sexual empowerment”…whatever that is.

I believe the whole thing behind that “movement” is that women should be able to dress however they want without having to worry about being assaulted. It started after a Police Official made a comment that women should consider how they dress in an effort to avoid rape.

Well, I do verbally assault the Freeperati on a weekly basis..
Did they ask for it?
Why, sure – just look at the way they redress.
See you good people next week!

“Due to the absolute irrationality and unreasonable demands of perfection, we now have Romney. Thank you. I’m sure you are quite representative of the stiff necked, thick skulled people that scream they’re conservative, until a true conservative runs then it’s time to bring out faults from 20 years ago. Contempt doesn’t even begin to describe what you deserve.”
This one approaches sentience; I can’t imagine he’ll be at Freeperville for long.

Seriously, I do hope the Paul goons start some trouble at the convention. It’d be a grand show.

The Mystery of the Multiple Posts Revealed.
I’ve always wondered why South Freepistan seemed to have a high incidence of multiple identical posts. New studies reveal that it all has to do with the “spinning thingy”.
About a week ago, “dogcaller” posted the following drivel:

    To: NormsRevenge
Too many serfs out there eating food and stuff…pass the caviar, please. [June 06, 2012 11:03:20 PM by dogcaller]

Within 15 seconds he/she had posted eight more identical copies. About two minutes later he/she appeared to notice the results. Apparently the only solution was to start writing to him/herself:

    To: dogcaller
Sorry about the multiple posts…I seem to do this a lot. [June 06, 2012 11:05:13 PM by dogcaller]

The crack research team at FR managed to trace it all to the “spinning thingy”:

    To: dogcaller
    Good grief. Nine identical replies.
Here’s the deal: first hit “Post.” Then look up at the row of browser tabs at the top of the page. Find the one that carries the label “Posting Comment.”
When you find the “Posting Comment” tab, take a look and see if you can spot a little icon that looks like something spinning or swirling; if you see this spinning thingy, it means that your comment is winging its way to FR’s computer, but FR’s computer has not yet finished sending you your updated web page that shows your comments in the “If you posted your comment as-is, it would look like…” box, sometimes called the “Preview box” (or something similar).
As long as that little icon is spinning, don’t hit the “Post” button again! If you do, you will cause your reply to be posted again. If you hit “Post” three times whilst the spinning thingy is there, we will all get to enjoy your words of wisdom three times.
Sometimes, FR’s computer (often called a “server”) will neglect to send a reply back to your browser. I don’t know why this happens, but it does, once in a while.
You’ll know this is the case if that little spinning thing keeps spinning and spinning for a minute or two. In this case, experience indicates that your reply actually has been posted, but FR’s server loses track of things.
What I do in that case is refresh the original discussion thread page (you can do this by using your “back” key until you see the page in question and then hitting the “refresh” button to get FR’s server to send you the latest version of the page) and check to see if my comment appears at the bottom of the page. Usually it does. [June 06, 2012 11:30:55 PM by Steely Tom (If the Constitution can be a living document, I guess a corporation can be a person.)]

I swear, sometimes I think they’re too stupid to breath.

Many thanks, Tommy. I always love the ones where the hive mind can’t reach a consensus.

  6. Tommy T says:

“history of the multiple posts” will appear as a small feature in the “Zimmer-man, Zimmer-man” thread in next week’s Obsession.
