Given All the Fucking Givens

Via the Crack Den’s comments thread, here’s a particular piece of stupidity amidstthe avalanche of stupidity coming from the Romney campaign right now:

Another adviser expressed frustration with horserace reporters declaring Romney’s campaign dead fatally behind, as President Obama pulls ahead in the polls. He said he suspects the press is projecting their own hopes for an Obama re-election at best — and purposefully cheerleading the incumbent, at worst.

“I mean, I was expecting this narrative in October,” he said. “You know, the polls are close, and so the media starts cheering on their guy, saying Romney’s doomed. But I didn’t expect it to happen this early. They just seem really eager.”

Let’s look at all the ways the Libya thing was stupid. First, you turn the campaign from the suckass economy, on which you have some advantage based on Obama not doing enough and not doing the right things (not that you’re gonna do the right things, but let’s not get crazy), to foreign policy, where your party has recently distinguished itself by sticking its entire dick in a bees’ nest.

You are a basketball player, and you challenge your opponent to the 800-meter freestyle, for some godforsaken reason. Leave aside the human considerations, like the DEAD PEOPLE, and there’s no reason to open your trap at all. Just keep blithering about job creation and how government sucks. Many Americans these days seem to find that bullshit appealing, whereas absolutely none of them think it’s cool to wave a corpse around to get attention.

Plus, by making it an actual event, you made it eminently clear that your entire campaign apparatus was involved in making this statement, so you can’t disavow it by saying the candidate wasn’t prepared, or was taken in by a trick question, or was otherwise unable to somehow not shoot a hole in his own ass.

And NOW you want to claim liberal media trickery? Are you fucking kidding me? YOU CALLED THE PRESS TO SHOW UP THERE, MORONS. Now you’re made because they wrote down what you said?

Just like during the RNC, I’m honestly getting offended at how inept the Romney campaign is, and here’s why: Running for president isn’t something you should do as a joke. It’s not a stunt show. Sure, Bush’s operation was evil, but they took it seriously. They didn’t faff around. Their campaign show was the Death Star. Romney’s is turning into an Ewok add-on movie George Lucas crapped out to buy himself a new boat.

    THANK YOU!!!

  3. Yeah, Romney tried to look all “presidential” and shitbut couldn’t disguise the strip mall wallpaper shop as the White House Rose Garden. Which is just such a fucking good metaphor for his entire campaign.

Excuses, excuses…because it just CAN’T be their own fault, right?
I swear, the whining and mewling from these folks is amazing. And imagine how psychotic they’d be if they really were on the receiving end of what far-more-ordinary people have to deal with every day.

He goes overseas apparently to insult Great Britain followed by insulting other allies in their home countries.
As the link has, he omits the vets from his RNC speech and excuses it in that he only mentioned the important things (what politician dares to snub the vets whether you are for them or against them? Even in the midst of cutting funding for medical for the vets, the Bush II administration all proudly proclaimed their love for the vets. Romney doesn’t care enough for them to even try to say something nice. I’d like to see a study if, aside from the tax incentives, if Romney and the effects of Bain were good or bad for vet employment)?
As if to verify that the snub was intentional, there is the video of him sitting down with a ‘Nam vet, asking what years he served, and launching into a few sentences on that would be the time that Romney was overseas (on a draft deferment. Apparently equating the dangers of mission work in?Europe? with being shot at in Nam. Totally forgetting the gut wrenching decisions about the draft that tore up families and the debate about the morality of the war – of course, going on mission work had no such moral conflicts).
To top it off, Romney made a statement about DOMA apparently oblivious to the fact that his domestic partner / recently wedded husband was right there at the table.
Romney blames Obama that the Arab Spring has had violence. Well DUH! I will critiicize Obama that he had a difficult decision to make in whether or not to pull back **ALL** American Embassy staff in the face of that danger. A full embassy pull back could be seen as abandonment of the region. OTOH, Romney, advised by many of the players from Bush II and even Watergate, seems to think the easy solution is just Nuke to vaporize them Sand Monkeys (funny how we still haven’t learned how the use of even weapons with low level radioactive materials forms pollution that spreads over international borders. But as any good industrialist or venture capitalist knows, the EPA and OSHA have invented the idea that pollution can be harmful).
Perhaps the best wrap up, is that Romney at the RNC clearly indicated that he viewed the Russians as our greatest threat and blames Obama for getting us into Afghanistan in the first place.

To be fully accurate, my last paragraph also introduces an idea offered by Eastwood’s empty chair.

Folks in the press, why can’t you make this look all statesman-like and shit. Gravitas this up, is that too much to ask?
“They clearly – they clearly sent mixed messages to the world. And – and the statement came from the administration – and the embassy is the administration – the statement that came from the administration was a – was a statement which is akin to apology and I think was a – a – a severe miscalculation.”
But interrupting the grown ups who run the world to show what an inexperienced putz you are, that wasn’t a miscalculation?

Why has it taken me so long to put together the current Romney chicken-hawk-war-lovin-beligerance with the stories earlier this year regarding Romney and bullying in his prep school?
And how Romney reminds me of Ross Perot including insulting the NAACP, saying things as if people should swallow it because he is the boss, and the bigger aura of the cult of the CEO – namely the worship that says a good CEO can run any business because of their god-like aura (kind of like Plato inventing the myth that the ruling class had blood of gold).
