A Cup of Civility: The Lesson in the Starbucks Non-BacklashTownhall.com ^ | October 7, 2013 | Jeff Jacoby

Posted on Monday, October 07, 2013 6:12:27 AM by Kaslin

It has been more than two weeks since Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz issued a “respectful request” for customers to stop bringing guns into his company’s coffee shops, and the response by and large has been one of courteous compliance.

Considering how polarized and emotional America’s gun debates usually get, some people were sure Starbucks was in for weeks of controversy. “The backlash and boycott talk has already begun,”reported the Los Angeles Times the day Schultz’s open letter appeared.Entrepreneur.com’s Ray Hennessey, an experienced business editor, warned that Starbucks risked “alienating a large portion of its customer base.”

That didn’t happen. And to judge from a new nationwide survey, it isn’t going to.

Asked about the Starbucks no-guns request in the latest Quinnipiac University poll, two of every three respondents — 66 percent — call it a good idea. Even among individuals from gun-owning households, 52 percent support Starbucks’ position. The overwhelming majority, 72 percent, say it won’t make any difference in where they get their coffee. The scale of that placid response is the same across every demographic subgroup: Democrats and Republicans, men and women, Northeasterners and Southerners, city-dwellers and rural residents — and, yes, gun owners — all say by lopsided majorities that Starbucks’ shift on guns isn’t going to change their economic behavior.

For the record, I’ve long been a Starbucks customer. I’ve been a supporter of gun rights for even longer. I often find myself in the minority on political or cultural questions, but on this I share the mainstream view: I have no problem with Schultz’s request, and my coffee-buying habits won’t change.

72 percent, say it won’t make any difference in where they get their coffee.

So 28% say they will get their coffee elsewhere (this includes me). Who thinks that any business can write off nearly 30% of their customer base?

Worst. Article. Ever.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce backs Republicans who oppose shutdownSmart Planet ^ | October 6, 2013 | David Worthington

Posted on Tuesday, October 08, 2013 11:12:12 PM by SeminoleCounty

UPDATED The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is preparing to make campaign donations to Republicans that vote to end the government shutdown and raise the debt ceiling, putting it at loggerheads with the Tea Party. That is significant, because The Chamber provides a financial counter balance to House incumbents that could face a primary challenger if they support a “clean” continuing resolution to fund the operation of the U.S. government or to raise the sovereign debt that can be issued by the United States Treasury to avoid a default. The shutdown crisis began last week over an attempt to nullify the ACA by defunding it. Republicans have unsuccessfully tried to repeal or dismantle the ACA 46 times.

The US Chamber of Commerce pretty much now supports ObamaCare. No surprise, really, as the Chamber supports Illegal Alien Amnesty, Open Borders, and Trading with the Enemy.

Why anyone hooks up with the Chamber is beyond me…

Email: Obama Care” Exempts any Muslim Believer email

Posted on Tuesday, October 08, 2013 9:39:55 PM by where’s_the_Outrage?

Receieved this email, looks like another effort to discredit anti-Obamacare people that go with it. B careful, check to see that Dhimmitude is in the bill before you forward or post.

Interesting that “Obama Care” exempts any Muslim believer from the government mandate to purchase health insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured; just one more example of his growing list of exemptions even though it is unlawful to “piecemeal” parts of the law that Congress has passed and he has signed into law.

What does this word mean? Dhimmitude

The word “Dhimmitude” is found in the new health care bill; so what does it mean?

Obama used it in the health care bill. Now isn’t this interesting? It is also included in the health care law.

Dhimmitude — I had never heard the word until recently. I typed it into Google and started reading. Pretty interesting. It’s on page 107 of the healthcare bill. I looked this up on Google and yep, it exists. It is a REAL word.

Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-Muslim populations conquered through jihad (Holy War). Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-Muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to Islam.

ObamaCare allows the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia Muslim diktat in the United States. Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be “gambling”, “risk-taking”, and “usury” and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this.

How convenient. So I, as a Christian, will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of my assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivable, and will face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax. Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such penalty and will have 100% of his health insurance needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-Muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize Muslims. This is Dhimmitude.

I recommend sending this on to your contacts. American citizens need to know about it —

snopes.com : Health Insurance Exemptions Apr 13, 2010 … Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations … The ObamaCare bill is the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia …

http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/exemptions.asp s/medical/exemptions.asp>

Keep this going. Every non-Muslim in the United States of America needs to know about it

Snopes, About.com, etc. All say this false, Dhimmitude appears nowhere in the bill.

One comment was that it was in a draft. Would not matter, it is was is in the final bill.

So be careful if you receive this.

Glenn Beck Reveals a Story He Hasn’t Been Able to Share for Over a Year (GOPe coup)The Blaze ^ | Oct. 9, 2013 8:21pm | Erica Ritz

Posted on Thursday, October 10, 2013 8:10:47 AM by The_Victor

Glenn Beck shared a story with viewers on Wednesday that he’s been keeping close to the vest since before the 2012 election, explaining that he’s been waiting for the right time to say what exactly happened, and what it means for the country.

It all began, Beck said, in what he believes was late August when he was getting ready to do a number of events with FreedomWorks.

“It’s about 4:00 in the afternoon and I get a call from the president of FreedomWorks, Matt Kibbe, and I can hear the distress in his voice,” Beck said. “[Kibbe said], ‘Glenn, I’ve just been escorted out of my office by armed guards and told not to come back.'”

Kibbe added that he wasn’t the only one forcefully escorted out, and that they had been hijacked, so to speak, by the “old guard” GOP establishment.

“There was a coup during the election, and it was powerful,” Beck said. “They were trying to get rid of the libertarian, Tea Party-minded power players, and first and foremost on that hit list was Matt Kibbe and his allies. They didn’t like the fact that FreedomWorks was cleaning house in the GOP…that they were targeting people like Orrin Hatch. It didn’t sit well with the Karl Roves of the GOP world…”

Beck said that shortly thereafter he got a call from the man inside FreedomWorks who had “ordered the hit,” who explained how the whole situation was “really good” because now he was the face of FreedomWorks and people trust him.

“His face never saw the light of day on my program,” Beck said. “I hung up the phone with him, the next day I called board members of FreedomWorks…and we said we support the libertarian voice, and if you allow this coup to sit, we’re done and we’ll expose it.”

“It wasn’t even a week later the board took a vote and decided to reinstate Matt Kibbe as president,” Beck said. “Put in the half of the staff – all the libertarians that had been escorted out – reinstated all of them, and then escorted the leader of this coup and his cronies out the door for good.”

Beck spoke about the ramifications of the “coup” for the 2012 election, and said now is the right time to share the story because “the exact same thing – the same people really – are doing this now in the GOP.”

“Anyone in Congress or the Senate who associates with FreedomWorks, the Senate Conservatives Fund, the Tea Party, anybody, anybody is being targeted by the same class of establishment Republican progressives,” Beck said. “They do not like it when you organize. They do not like it when you choose the candidates that you actually want.”

Beck said it’s the same reason why lawmakers are not truly pursuing the IRS’ targeting of small government groups, because progressives on both sides “want that tool in place…to come after people like you.”

“This has never been about left and right,” Beck said. “This is about freedom, freedom, and tyranny.”

Beck has said multiple times that he has no desire to see a third party, and reminded how the Republican Party began.

“Before the GOP was in existence, it was a two party system – the Democrats and the Whigs,” Beck said, noting that many Whigs and a fair number of Democrats were frustrated that both parties were offering much of the same.

“Charles Sumner was one of the most hated people by the Whigs and the Democrats…so much that he was literally beaten within an inch of his life on the House floor because no one stepped in to stop it,” Beck continued. “Within four years, Sumner wasn’t the most hated anymore — he was the most beloved man in the Republican Party, and the Whigs were extinct. I’m telling you that’s what’s coming if we stand.”

****************************

Searched, but didn’t see this posted.

Just in cased (sic) we weren’t aware that it’s not just the democRATs we’re fighting.
