Good Monday morning, everyone! We’re going to start with some new stuff and also dip into the older stuff – because there is no “sell-by” date on stupidity.
First – they’re standing their ground! (composite thread – and several were yanked by moderators for some reason)
‘I can’t believe I’ve been shot’: Last words of man killed by retired police captain (truncated)
Daily Mail Online ^ | January 13, 2014 | Daily Mail ReporterPosted on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 4:04:00 PM bycenturion316
A 43-year-old father was shot dead by a retired cop in a Florida cinema after a row about him texting his three-year-old daughter as they waited for the movie to start, witnesses said.
Chad Oulson was shot in front of his wife and horrified movie-goers during an argument with 71-year-old Curtis Reeves.
The victim’s wife, Nicole, was injured in the shooting after holding her hands out to try to shield Mr Oulson during the confrontation at a movie theater near Tampa on Monday.
After Reeves fired at his chest the victim was heard saying: ‘I can’t believe I got shot’, according to Fox News.
Reeves, who is facing life in prison if found guilty, has been charged with second-degree murder. During a hearing on Tuesday he appeared via video link, wearing a green suicide smock – a fire resistant outfit that can’t be torn or turned into a noose.
The judge ruled he should be held without bond because of the severity of the charges, but the no bond ruling can’t be confirmed until a live hearing with Reeves.
Apparently this guy didn’t like people texting in the movie theater, even before the movie started. The penalty for noncompliance with demands to cease being death.
Of course, by federal law, retired law enforcement officer who meet certain conditions are permitted to concealed carry. It’s just ordinary citizens who can be restricted from doing so in order to protect the public. I wonder who protects the public from retired LEO’s?

Hell, I would give him a noose, a razor blade, and a bottle of potassium cyanide and save the state the expense of trying and housing him.

So far it sounds like a clean self-defense shooting. The other man threw something at the ex-cop, he felt that he was in danger and shot the man.
I’m not sure how this couldn’t be self-defense, but I’m sure they’ll crucify him.13 posted on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 4:17:22 PM byTexasGunLover (“Either you’re with us or you’re with the terrorists.”– President George W. I’m sick and tired of belligerent bullies. Mean people suck. Don’t be an ass, you never know who you’re dealing with and what they have on them.

The fact is the guy would be alive he wasn’t a jerk. Just think of all the people saved from the jerk’s behavior. I’m sure this wasn’t his first episode.

60 Minutes has learned of new information that undercuts the account told to us by Morgan Jones of his actions on the night of the attack on the Benghazi compound.
We are currently looking into this serious matter to determine if he misled us…

An unknown political novice who has never visited Washington, D.C., won a special election for Louisiana’s 5th District seat Saturday on the endorsement of the “Duck Dynasty” family and a promise to fix Obamacare.
Vance McAllister beat establishment candidate Neil Riser, a state senator, in Saturday’s runoff election created when former Rep. Rodney Alexander resigned on Sept. 26 to become secretary of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs under Republican Governor Bobby Jindal.

During the past year or so, it seems that more and more FReepers reflexively oppose anyone *accused of being an “establishment” candidate* (based solely on the fact that he is in elective office and/or is endorsed by some elected officials), and support anyone who claims to be a “Tea Partier” (even when their words and deeds are liberal!) so long as such person never has held elective office. Had Ralph Nader claimed to be a “Tea Partier” in 1984, I guess these blinded conservatives would have supported Nader over that “GOP-e” figure Ronald Reagan running for reelection with the endorsement of 99% of elected Republicans nationwide.
I hope that McAllister was only pretending to be a liberal during the run-off to fool Democrats to vote for him and thus defeat Riser (who was, undoubtedly, the preferred candidate of Republicans and conservatives in LA-05). That would mean that McAllister is dishonest and unfit to be in public office, but at least he wouldn’t have a pro-amnesty, soft-on-Obamacare, liberal voting record.
