Then STOP BEING BIGOTS

It’s so hard when you act like an asshole and people actually notice:

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Walt Disney Company will cut funding to the Boy Scouts of America beginning in 2015 because of a policy that bans gay adult leaders in the organization.

The Boy Scouts organization is “disappointed” by the decision, which will affect the organization’s ability to serve children, Deron Smith, a Boy Scouts spokesman, said in a statement Sunday. Disney does not provide direct funding to the Boy Scouts, but it donates money to some troops in exchange for volunteer hours completed by Disney employees, he said.

“We believe every child deserves the opportunity to be a part of the Scouting experience and we are disappointed in this decision because it will impact our ability to serve kids,” he said.

Yes. So very disappointing. If only you could do something about it.

    Less then a year ago your policies said differently; you’d be more convincing if you hadn’t fought to keep it that way.
    And I can’t wait to see you explain why gay Eagle Scouts, who are supposed to be the embodiment of the virtues the BSA extolls, will be barred from turning around and being leaders after they turn 18.

  3. I can’t abide. I earned the Eagle Scout award, but under their current rules, I can’t be a part of the BSA. But it’s not because I’m gay, it’s because I’m an atheist. However, unlike many other former Boy Scouts, I’m not so bothered by this. Scouting was fun, but there’s no reason why other group activities can’t replace it in my children’s young-adult lives (when they reach that age). Preferably ones that are co-ed and don’t give two shits about the sexual orientation or religious (non-)beliefs of its members and their guardians.

  4. Girl Scouts and Camp Fire are good alternatives. BAD alternatives include “Trail Life USA.” Do a google image search for them if you want some nauseating pictures.
