It’s the 67th anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s debutas the first African American major league baseball player. He’s being honored at ballparks across the country by folks wearing his number, 42. I’m honoring him here by posting the 1962 picture above with MLK, and this awesome tune written in Jackie’s honor by Buddy Johnson and recorded by Count Basie:

    And to celebrate, Hank Aaron will be going through some of the hate mail he’s been sent at the Atlanta Braves for having the temerity to compare Obama critics to Kluxers on the 40th anniversary of breaking the Babe;s HR record. Sheesh.
