I learned early in life that you can and should judge people by the company they keep. That’s doubly true in politics. What does that make former Border Patrol guy Greg Bovino and Donald Trump? In a word: Fascists.

Another quality Bovino shares with the Insult Comedian is a love of the limelight. He craves attention and wasn’t getting enough, so what did he do?

Greg Bovino was welcomed like a celebrity at one of the world’s pre-eminent fascist confabs this past weekend. The former U.S. Border Patrol Commander-At-Large — whose MAGA star turn came when President Donald Trump cast him as the lead in White House’s lethal immigration sweeps across America — mingled with Hitler admirers, avowed racists, and far-right politicians at the Salmanha Residence near Porto, Portugal for the “Remigration Summit 2026.”

 

“The interest around him is enormous,” the event’s account on Telegram gushed, posting a photo of Bovino arriving at the hotel, giving an impromptu press conference to a gaggle of journalists outside. “I am very happy to come over and lend some expertise to the Europeans” to stop “illegal aliens destroying European culture,” he told them.

 

The veteran American border cop appeared to leave his famous Nazi SS-style trench coat stateside, donning a suit jacket instead. But if his attire wasn’t a nod to violent ethno-nationalism, the speech and interviews he delivered at the conference were. Bovino opened his 15-minute lecture, to a crowd of about 500 mostly white men, by calling “remigration” the “most important topic perhaps of our lifetime,” according to a video provided to Talking Points Memo by Jacopo Di Miceli, an independent Italian journalist.

No wonder many call him Gestapo Greg a nickname he dislikes. All the MAGA fascists hate being called Nazis. Stephen Miller pitches an incel hissy fit every time he’s called a Nazi. If you hate it so much, Stephen, stop feeding your boss lines about blood and soil and the enemy within. That’s as Nazi as it gets.

Back to Greg Bovino. His far right sympathies are nothing new. The featured image wasn’t taken at the fascist fest but outside the federal building during Bovino’s reign of terror and error in Chicago. His downfall came in Minneapolis where he presided over then lied about the murders of Rene Good and Alex Pretti.

Now Bovino is spreading the MAGA message of remigration to Europe. He believes that 100 million people should be deported from our country, which would inevitably include citizens. It goes beyond ethnic cleansing to political cleansing. Everything is political to these MAGA maggots as proven by Pete Hegseth’s anti-immigration screed at Normandy on the 82nd anniversary of D-Day.

Nothing is normal, everything is political, nothing is sacred.

As a history buff whose male relatives all served in the fight against fascism, I’m horrified that anyone would want to emulate the Nazis who are among the biggest losers in history. The same goes for Italian fascists who are among the biggest fuck ups in history: They were defeated by the Greek army before being bailed out by the Germans among other epic fuck ups. Of course, Donald Trump is a fuck up and fuck uppery is an integral part of MAGA madness. But who wants to end up like Mussolini, executed and strung up for public abuse? That’s seriously fucked up.

Bovino’s extremism seems driven by the MAGA compulsion to own the libs. That’s a crucial component of the most fucked up political movement in our history. They’re outrageous for the sake of being outrageous. I’m outraged by their outrageousness.

There’s a sickness in the American soul in 2026. Greg Bovino sieg heiling in Chicago and palling around with Euro-fascists is a symptom, not the disease. The disease is MAGA itself. They’ve unleashed all the worst elements of our political culture and either support or wink at them. Overt racism and medical malakatude are in fashion as unqualified and malevolent political hacks run vast swaths of the government.

Nothing is normal, everything is political, nothing is sacred.

The old America died during the COVID lockdown. The Biden administration tried resuming business as usual but MAGA lurked like a demonic jack in the box ready to spring to life when the crimes of the Dipshit Insurrection and Trump 1.0 were forgotten by the people of the United States of Amnesia.

Repeat after me: Nothing is normal, everything is political, nothing is sacred.
