A mysterious cosmic presence who came out of nowhere with the incredible premise to free a dying planet* … that’s not so scary. Not like (s)he’s going to float down out of the sky on a floating rainbow unicorn with thousands of “helpers” on floating rainbow unicorns to carry (((The Chosen People))) away to Paradise** ~ that’s scary. Far the more likely thousands upon thousands of cavernous spacecraft, vast slaughter-houses piloted by ravenous vaguely reptilian creatures, but I digress …
Seems to me we could use a Fireclown or two.
* I was just physically, as in not out of the back of my head, listening to Sun Jester
** They call it Paradise, I don’t know why; call someplace Paradise, kiss it goodbye
