It’s been a good few weeks in the US political sphere. At the end of July, Joe Manchin decided that parts of the Build Back Better proposal were good ideas that Congress should move on, and reopened talks with Chuck Schumer. That in itself was good news. But the way it happened, with McConnell dictating what Schumer was allowed to bring to the Senate floor and Schumer ignoring him, was fun. And politics hasn’t been fun for a while now.
With that legislative and political hurdle out of the way, the next mood changer was Kansas voters voting to keep abortion legal in their state. It was the result of a large increase in voter registration after the Dobbs decision was released and a very large primary turnout. It was a much-needed reminder that our system can still work.
And who didn’t enjoy the about face Senate Republicans had to do on the PACT Act? They reacted like a bunch of petulant children when Schumer announced the reconciliation bill was back on and they took it out on…veterans. And now the Democrats can run on that as well in November.
I was out on the deck grilling dinner on Monday afternoon when I checked Twitter and found out that the FBI had executed a search warrant against The Former Guy. Because the first tweet I saw was a quote of a message TFG had sent out, I wasn’t sure that it was real. But then I saw this tweet from Peter Schorsch, the local reporter who broke the story:
Scoop — The Federal Bureau of Investigation @FBI today executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago, two sources confirm to @Fla_Pol.
"They just left," one source said.
Not sure what the search warrant was about.
TBH, Im not a strong enough reporter to hunt this down, but its real. pic.twitter.com/hMsGhlVp3d

Our fearless leader wrote about it on Tuesday looking from a legal perspective. I’m here today to talk about it from the vibe perspective.
It’s been a long slog since the Dipshit Insurrection and having Biden’s legislative agenda grind to a halt was pretty disheartening. I had kept faith in the DOJ, and kept reminding people that this DOJ doesn’t leak. And the public interest in the House’s 1/6 hearings was a positive development, too. But nothing can scratch the itch that is the TFG’s treachery like some kind of legal action directed at him, and that’s what we got on Monday.
There are so many things to love about TFG being targeted. One is the complete meltdown in MAGAland. And the great thing is all of the TFS’s disciples demanding that the DOJ release info from the search warrant.
At a minimum, Garland must resign or be impeached. The search warrant must be published. Christoper Wray must be removed. And the FBI reformed top to bottom.

It’s as if Senator Fistbump McRunPants doesn’t understand that the last thing any of the sedition clowns need is having the search warrant released. If it were, we’d all know just how bad things really were under the TFG, and it would greatly help the Democrats in November.
Another fun element is trying to guess what is in the stuff that TFG didn’t turn over the first time. I mean, the FBI came and took 10 more boxes. What’s hidden in there? The full readout of “the perfect phone call” with Zelensky? The notes from the Helsinki meeting where Putin turned TFG into Reek? The burner phone he used on 1/6? Whatever is in those boxes you know it is bad for TFG. As in REALLY BAD. How can we tell? He hasn’t published the search warrant.
What about these details that came out later on Tuesday:
New: The @FBI searched Mar-a-Lago in part because agents believed there was still more classified info there after @USNatArchives earlier retrieved 15 boxes of WH documents from the home.

Did someone whistle blow about the documents—both what they were and where they were? So many questions left to be answered.
And as a bonus this happened too:
Rep Scott Perry (R-PA): “This morning, while traveling with my family, 3 FBI agents visited me and seized my cell phone.”
— Scott MacFarlane (@MacFarlaneNews) August 9, 2022
You may remember that Perry was involved in the plot to install Jeffrey Clark. While looking him up again, I was reminded that he was part of this:
Cassidy Hutchinson, who worked under Meadows when he was former President Donald Trump’s chief of staff, told the panel investigating the Capitol attack that she saw Meadows incinerate documents after a meeting in his office with Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.). A person familiar with the testimony described it on condition of anonymity.
The Meadows-Perry meeting came in the weeks after Election Day 2020, as Trump and his allies searched for ways to reverse the election results.
I’m impatiently waiting to learn more. I referenced Game of Thrones earlier, and I’ll close with this—bring on the judicial Red Wedding.
I wonder if all of this wailing and moaning by those folks suddenly calling for the FBI and DOJ to be defunded !!?!! means they have also come around to supporting restoring voting rights to felons…
