Biden Vs. D.C. Media

When the Hur report dropped Friday, I could have predicted how terrible the Sunday morning political talk shows would be.

They did not disappoint.

The Hur report, for those who still have not heard, basically exonerated Biden from criminal charges, but special prosecutor Robert Hur crossed a line by focusing on Biden’s alleged memory problems. Even referred to the president as a well-meaning old dude, but kind of out of it. No, really, he said this…I wrote about it last Friday, the day after it came out.

Some media really did point out that many prosecutors, including Republican ones, said Hur crossed a line. He absolutely did, giving Biden’s opponent, including Trump, ammo to use against him.

But over the weekend, much of the DC media fell over themselves to help the Republican Party with spreading the Hur report’s slander. This…is sheer madness.

What the person who Tweeted the above is referring to regarding Trump and Putin is this, which was horrifying and par for the course with Trump.

As of this morning, the good news is that much of the DC media is picking up and running with this story. As well they should, a major presidential candidate telling one of our adversaries to “come and get it” regarding invading our allies is some big-deal news. Basically, Trump did the “stand back and stand by” to Putin as he did with the Proud Boys.

But I doubt it will overshadow the Hur report’s crazy talk about Biden’s memory and age. The Sunday morning shows featured it prominently.

This was to be expected because it often seems that Biden has to fight the DC press corps AND Trump. We have seen a lot of “think” pieces over the last several months that focus on Biden’s age and occasional gaffes much more than we do about Trump’s age and frequently erratic behavior. I was, however, encouraged by Mitch Landrieu, the Biden/Harris campaign national co-chair, who appeared on Meet the Press yesterday.

Kristen Welker, who I sometimes think has a main goal of proving she can be as bad of a host of Meet the Press as Chuck Todd, was doing some editorializing of her own during the interview with Landrieu. I have seen this play out many times on national cable and network news shows, and often I am pulling my hair out at how the Democrat is not pushing back on the interviewer injecting opinion or an outright falsehood into the discourse, just letting it go. Landrieu, on the other hand, did not and came at Welker quite hard.

This is encouraging because this is the blueprint that the Democrats must follow throughout the rest of the campaign. We have to fight back, and treat the DC media as adversaries because that is how they are treating us.

Here’s to more of it.

The last word goes to Twisted Sister.
