I searched for a swampy featured image and the result was that fakakta painting by the dread wingnut artist John McNaughton. He’s forever sucking up to the Convicted Insult Comedian. I’m wracking my brain to find any similarities between Trump and George Washington who was famously stoical whereas Trump is what a friend of mine calls a whiny titty baby.

For some bizarre reason, Trumpers think their guy is a man of principle when he believes in nothing but himself. Hence this 2022 post title, Trumpy Making Flippy Floppy. That post was about Trump crawfishing on his Putin love. He’s already flipped flopped back on to Team Putin. Making Flippy Floppy is what Trumpy does best:
Former President* Pennywise’s latest flip flop is on early voting:
After years of promising to “drain the swamp” while maintaining coziness with lobbyists and engaging in unprecedented self dealing, former President Trump has a new awkward marshland metaphor. Trump is now asking his supporters to become the “swamp” themselves as part of his continued flip flopping on early voting and mailed ballots.
On Tuesday, Trump’s campaign and its newly-launched turnout effort “Trump Force 47” announced a program called “Swamp The Vote USA.” The announcement included a statement from Trump himself that echoed his false claims that Democrats have somehow stolen votes from him.
“We must swamp the radical Democrats with massive turnout. The way to win is to swamp them, if we swamp them with votes they can’t cheat,” Trump said. “You need to make a plan, register, and vote any way possible. We have got to get your vote.”
Remember the evils of early voting according to Trump?
Trump’s past suggestions that mailed ballots and early voting were somehow sources of nefarious activity sowed deep distrust among his base. That contributed to Democrats having a major edge with these methods. This latest launch is the culmination of a monthslong GOP effort to reverse this collateral campaign damage caused by Trump’s election conspiracies. “
It’s yet another IOIYAR scenario complete with a new command from the Kaiser of Chaos:
“All Republicans must SWAMP THE VOTE in 2024 to make our victory TOO BIG TO RIG!”
It may be too big to rig but it’s definitely not too big to fail.
I always thought that Team Trump’s fear and loathing of early voting was nuts even for them: Republicans pioneered the early voting process forcing Democrats to play catch up. COVID denialism made early voting a casualty of the Mask Wars waged by GOPers during the pandemic. That pandemic pander bit them in the ass and they’re all swamp people with Swamp Gas now:
Is that the theme song of Team Trump’s Black voter outreach? It comes from an album called Black Music For White People, after all. Ain’t nobody whiter than the Convicted Insult Comedian.
Let’s circle back to the featured image. It’s a take on the 1851 painting Washington Crossing The Delaware by Emanuel Leutze. It too presents a skewed view of history: Washington’s defeat of the Hessians at Trenton, New Jersey was no big whoop; the German mercenaries had celebrated Christmas by drinking themselves unconscious. The patriots were so desperate for a victory than they turned a rout of drunken krauts into a great triumph. Skewing history is not just the province of 21st Century Republicans neither is making flippy floppy, but they excel at both.
What will Trumpy’s next flippy floppy be? Your guess is as good as mine.
