My friend Ryne Hancock is back and, as always, has a lot to say.
What An Insult by Ryne Hancock
When I was in college, I had the opportunity to interview Charlotte Bergmann, perennial Republican loser for the Ninth Congressional District of Tennessee.
Granted, my only reasoning behind this was the fact that Bergman was a Christian Brothers University graduate and well, I had never interviewed a political candidate before.
During that interview, it felt like Bergmann, who is African American, was afraid of being in the same space as another African American, which is probably what happens when you’re the token negro in the Shelby County Republican Party.
Years later, Bergmann, true to her form as a loser, fell for the Big Lie regarding the 2020 election, this coming after losing for the millionth time to Steve Cohen.
In fact, she wrote a very poorly written book called “The Last Trumpet” in the aftermath of the 2020 election.
As I look back, I realized giving someone who is basically Ann Coulter in blackface a platform, despite sharing the same collegiate alma mater, was a huge mistake.
Not because she was a Republican, but because this woman was committed to being willingly stupid, which is why I wasn’t surprised that she believed the 2020 election was stolen.
I thought about that the other day when former President Donald Trump made an appearance at the NABJ (National Association of Black Journalists) conference in Chicago.
Trump, who basically pulled up to prove to people he was not a racist, despite mountains of receipts over the years disputing this, showed his whole entire ass at a conference filled with people that he, over the course of his time in the White House, had utter contempt for.
I mean, this is the same person who mocked reporter April Ryan to her face, telling her in 2018 to sit down during a press conference.
A person, who also at the same time, wanted the NABJ conference interview to accommodate his needs like he was at some five-star restaurant, which if we’re being honest, isn’t his fault.
I can’t, with good faith, place the blame on Trump’s presence at the NABJ on him.
That’s not his fault.
The fault lies at the NABJ leadership (oh, wait fraudulent leadership) for enabling this person to spew his garbage and insult the intelligence of everyone there and more importantly, enable him to disrespect potentially the first Black woman to be president.
You basically sold your souls and your people for an insult session from the orange dolt.
I hope it was worth it, NABJ.
