This 1974 episode of The Midnight Special popped up recently on the YouTube. How could I resist this lineup: The Kinks, Electric Light Orchestra, Rory Gallagher, Buddy Miles, Alan Price, Suzi Quatro, and Wolfman Jack.

The whole hosting thing is weird. The Wolfman is really the host, but the show’s producers gave the honors to the top act on each episode. Isn’t that Midnight Special?

This is the first SMV Midnight Special that includes two artists who have had a Sunday Dozen: The Kinks and ELO. That feature remains on hiatus until I have the oomph to do it again, do it again, as The Kinks song goes.
