I obviously still have storms on my mind. Beats the hell outta thinking about immigrants eating pets. Jamie O ably handled the subject yesterday but I feel like piling on. It’s one of the oldest urban myths out there. When Vietnamese immigrants fled to California in the mid-Seventies, there were similar rumors about cats being eaten in Golden Gate Park. The rumors were discredited but they weren’t spread by politicians, just ordinary bigots. The Insult Comedian is an extraordinary bigot.
Repeat after me: Vote against the crook, it’s important.
I usually assemble this feature over the course of the week and write it on Thursday. None of that happened this week, so we have a bare bones Saturday post. Oh well, what the hell.
This week’s theme song was written by Ray Davies for the 1977 album Sleepwalker. I give you Stormy Sky.
Let’s follow up with a typically atmospheric song by Daniel Lanois.
We begin our second act by skipping it altogether. But we might as well have a last word from Fleetwood Mac before storming out of here:
We begin our third act with our favorite stolen feature.
Separated At Birth Twitter Edition: This time, arch-Trumper Stephen Miller and a young Vladimir Putin:

Most things that pop up on my timeline out of nowhere aren’t as interesting as that creepy pairing.
Your Weekly Oscar: I’ve been avoiding this overplayed Harold Arlen classic, but nobody does it better than OP.
Have I told you lately how much I love Oscar Peterson?
Best Of Johnny: This segments starts with 4 minutes of standup hilarity from Rodney Dangerfield followed by 5 minutes of sit down hilarity.
I needed that after this week. I, for one, always respected Rodney. It’s a respectable opinion. Let’s check in with The Stones and see what they think:
Saturday GIF Horse: We have some highlights of the Philadelphia Beatdown courtesy of the India Times.

I thought he was gonna poop in his pants when Kamala cornered him and shook his hand. It didn’t give me this earworm, but it could have:
Tweet Of The Week: It’s time for a Springfield pet-eating riff from a Simpsons cast member. Hit it, Hank.

Let’s close down this virtual honky tonk with some more music.
Saturday Closer: Rodney Crowell’s album The Outsider came out not long before our Katrina Exile in 2005. This duet with Emmylou Harris on Bob Dylan’s Shelter From The Storm was the theme song of the Texas part of our sojourn. It haunts me to this day.
That concludes this abbreviated edition of Saturday Odds & Sods. Since I crapped out on writing a full-blown post, the last word goes to Vincent Price and Jane Russell in The Las Vegas Story:

I have no skill at embedding photos or twiXes, but I saw a separated-at-birth the other day and instantly thought of your series…it’s John Wayne Gacy and JD Vance! Some say it’s more like father and son, but it is funny. I’ll try to get the link to work below. 🤞 I even love this person’s twiXter handle: “holden m. accountable” 🤣
