Resisting The MAGA DOJ Killer Bees

I debuted The Killer B’s nickname in my Giving Due Process Its Due post on Monday. I’ve changed the spelling, so the MS Word spell checker won’t have a meltdown. Besides, Killer Bees has more bite than Killer B’s. Buzz, buzz, buzz.

Who are the MAGA DOJ Killer Bees? Bondi, Blanche, and Bove, that’s who. Trump’s sycophant and his criminal defense lawyers, that’s who, who, who.

The SNL Killer Bees sketch was inspired by some Seventies hype involving actual bees. They were supposed to swarm America after leaving South America behind. You know how weird Americans get about anything that fits this song title:

Thanks, Chris.

The Killer Bees as played by the Not Ready For Prime Time Players were bandidos straight out of Viva Villa or Viva Zapata.

Viva last abejas asesinas.

Thanks to MAGA madness, we’re just as xenophobic in 2025 as when the sketch debuted 50 years ago.

That opening was digressive even by my standards. Strike that, let’s call it exposition. A little comedic tap dancing is in order in these hard times. Hit it, Ray:

Let’s return to the villains of this piece the MAGA DOJ Killer Bees: Bondi, Blanche, and Bove.

The terrible trio are busy bees whose sting is real. They’re dismantling the department, lying to judges, and turning the DOJ into an instrument of retribution for the Kaiser of Chaos. Lawyers are supposed to be orderly and methodical, the MAGA DOJ is as chaotic as the White House it supinely serves.

Near the top of the list of odious things done by the MAGA DOJ is the deal it made with soon-to-be former New York Mayor Eric Adams. The MAGA DOJ denies that there was an immigration quid pro quo in that case but they’re lying. The Killer Bees aren’t attorneys, they’re shysters.

The fallout from the Adams mishigas is back in the news as three SDNY prosecutors wrote a scathing letter to the middle Bee: Todd Blanche. It’s too juicy to excerpt so here’s the whole damn letter:

“The Department placed each of us on administrative leave ostensibly to review our, and the Southern District of New York U.S. Attorney’s Office’s, handling of the Adams case. It is now clear that one of the preconditions you have placed on our returning to the Office is that we must express regret and admit some wrongdoing by the Office in connection with the refusal to move to dismiss the case. We will not confess wrongdoing when there was none.

We have served under Presidents of both parties, advancing their priorities while pursuing justice without fear or favor. The role of a career prosecutor is not to set policy. But a prosecutor must abide by the oath to uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States and the rules of professional ethics set by the bar and the courts. The Department has long understood that these duties can and should coexist with the need to follow Department policies and orders. This is to the benefit of all: the courts, defendants, and the public, who can have confidence in the good faith and judgment of line prosecutors; the Department, which retains credibility while still receiving zealous advocacy from its lawyers; and the prosecutors themselves, who can stand in court confident that they are ethically carrying out their duties. Now, the Department has decided that obedience supersedes all else, requiring us to abdicate our legal and ethical obligations in favor of directions from Washington. That is wrong.

Serving in the Southern District of New York has been an honor. There is no greater privilege than to work for an institution whose mandate is to do the right thing, the right way, for the right reasons. We will not abandon this principle to keep our jobs. We resign.

This signers of this principled resignation letter are Celia V. Cohen Andrew Rohrbach, and Derek Wikstrom. They refused to lie to keep their jobs. No one should be asked to do such a thing, especially members of the bar with a shred of integrity, which is something the Killer Bees lack. Bluster and bullshit is their calling card as well as abject sycophancy to a convicted felon; the case Blanche and Bove lost. So much for Trump hating losers.

If Bondi, Blanche, and Bove had souls they sold them on the cheap in exchange for power or so they think. They’re only powerful as long as they do what they’re told by President Pennywise. The DOJ has a new motto: Justice with fear and favor.

The last word goes to Muddy Waters, Bobby Blue Bland, and Tom Petty with 3 different songs called Honey Bee.Â
