Album Cover Art: New Orleans Klezmer Allstars

This feature has been dormant since January but past post are still read: the Layla entry is one of the most read posts in First Draft history. That’s why I decided to revive it on the day on which it used to be a regular feature, Wednesday. Besides, I feel uninspired today so it’s time to put some oy in your joy or some such shit.

The New Orleans Klezmer Allstars have a floating lineup and vanish for years at a time but they’re back, baby, back. There was a 16 year gap between albums whose covers don’t appear in this post. I just wanted to cover myself. With what, I don’t know, surely not glory.

We begin with a funny cover with a punny title:

The cover is by Sarah Booth.

Here’s a tasty tune from the album:

I should really use the word kibosh more often. I hear it’s big:

FYI, Kibosh means to stop something or to prevent it from happening. Here it is in a sentence: The country should have put a kibosh on the Insult Comedian’s political career.

The cover is by Steve Winn.

Here’s a K song from The Big Kibosh:

Finally, the 1999 cover that inspired this post:

If Dr. Lizard practices medicine in New Orleans, I haven’t encountered him or her.

The cover is by Steve Winn. Let’s exit on a winning note.
