Malaka Of The Week: Andrew Cuomo

Our featured image is a malakatude twofer: Disgraced NYC Mayor Eric Adams and disgraced former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo. They’re not hitchhiking, they’re palling around at a New York Knicks game. The Knicks won that night, but Cuomo is on the verge of defeat in the NYC mayor’s election. And that is why Andrew Cuomo is malaka of the week.

I was an admirer of Cuomo’s father Mario who was a tribune of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. His reelection defeat in the 1994 wave election moved his son rightward on the political spectrum but not as far right as the Andrew Cuomo of 2025.

In what hopefully will be his last campaign, Cuomo is pandering to Trump voters and “sounding the alarm” about Zohran Mamdani. The candidate New York voters should be alarmed by is Andrew Cuomo. Horseshoe Person or desperate hack? You decide.

New York Magazine columnist Errol Louis is my go-to NYC pundit. I dig this take on the despicable campaign waged by the asshole former Governor:

“At the same time that ex-governor Andrew Cuomo was turning in a forceful and effective performance at the final televised debate of the campaign, his campaign released (and then quickly deleted) a disgusting, AI-generated video featuring a pimp, a drug dealer, a shoplifter, a domestic abuser, and a drunk driver all purporting to be “Criminals for Zohran Mamdani” and committing crimes as New York literally burns. The campaign blamed the release on an unnamed low-level staffer without explaining who commissioned, created, and approved the racist slop, which ends with the words “Paid for by Cuomo NYC.”

Mayor Adams is the poster boy for a non-existent group that could be called Criminals For Cuomo. Adams only escaped prosecution because of a corrupt deal with the creeps at the MAGA DOJ.

It gets worse, another quote from Errol Louis:

“Cuomo followed up the video with an appearance on the WABC radio show of frequently fired Sid Rosenberg, who has built a career out of making foul, hate-filled public tirades. (One recent sample: At last fall’s Trump campaign event at Madison Square Garden, Rosenberg told a roaring crowd, “She is some sick bastard, that Hillary Clinton, huh? What a sick son of a bitch. The whole fucking party, a bunch of degenerates, lowlives — Jew-haters and lowlives. Every one of them.”)

That Cuomo, a lifelong Democrat who served in the administration of Bill Clinton, chose to chat with Rosenberg on the air is a sign of how desperate he is to round up conservative [right-wing] votes. The gambit, predictably, backfired. “God forbid another 9/11. Can you imagine Mamdani in the seat?” Cuomo said. Rosenberg responded: “Yeah, I could. He’d be cheering,” as Cuomo chuckled along. “

In a word: Gross. Gross misbehavior is nothing new for Andrew Cuomo who resigned from the governorship over accusations of sexual misconduct. His nemesis was Empire State Attorney General Tish James who was recently indicted by Cuomo’s new pals at the MAGA DOJ. A bigger man would have criticized the indictment, but Andrew Cuomo is made of shittier stuff.

Cuomo’s independent candidacy has also attracted Manhattan billionaires who are hysterical about Mamdani being a card-carrying member of the DSA. I used the term card-carrying deliberately because this bizarre billionaire’s boys club is using McCarthyite tactics to smear Mamdani as a commie. Among the smearers are past malaka of the week Bill Ackman and former Mayor Mike Bloomberg who should know better. His successor, Bill deBlasio, was only a step to the right of Mira Nair’s kid. He didn’t wreck the city despite the best efforts of the police union to take him down.

Unlike his father who was gracious in defeat, Malaka AC is going down snarling. He lost the Democratic primary in a landslide but stayed in the race. Now he’s hurtling towards his last hurrah aboard the Empire State Express, metaphorically speaking. Here’s hoping he loses tomorrow. It will be bitter for him, sweet for his critics. And that is why Andrew Cuomo is malaka of the week.
