It’s the last Saturday in September. Fall has allegedly fallen, but it’s still too darn hot in New Orleans. We’re hoping for a cool front this weekend but temps will remain on the high side. Oh well, what the hell.
The featured image is a Max Ernst collage, The Hat Makes The Man. It’s too hot to wear a fedora but I can dream. Autumn looms but it hasn’t arrived yet. You may have noticed that I’m sick of summer. Is it hat, hat, hat or hot, hot, hot? Discuss amongst yourselves.
I finally got my hearing aids. They’re very high tech and I can hear everything including things I could live without hearing. There’s even an app that can be used to adjust volume and such. It’s going to take getting used to but I’m adaptable. Hopefully, I’ll get to the point where I don’t notice any of this.
The first Saints home game is Sunday. I used to watch a lot of sports on TV: I’m down to my hometown team, since my alma mater is coached by Lane Kiffin who is the dirtbag’s dirtbag as well as Jeff Landry’s guy. I even hoped that Ole Miss would beat its renegade coach. They did and I’ve returned to my default setting: Go Tigers.
Let’s get to our theme song, which concludes Robbie Robertson mania after 7 weeks.
Robbie wrote The Rumor for The Band’s 1970 album Stage Fright. It has great lyrics and lead vocals by all three of the group’s lead singers. That’s a fact, not a rumor.
We have 3 versions of The Rumor for your listening pleasure: The studio OG, The Band live, and a cover by the late, great New Orleans singer Leigh Harris DBA Little Queenie.
Rumor has it that I have more relevant songs to share. That’s share, not Cher:
Rumor has it that I’m low energy this week. That’s why we begin our second act by skipping it altogether except for the last word, which goes to Graham Parker & The Rumour:
We begin our third act with our favorite stolen feature.
Separated At Birth Skeet Edition: I ran a SAB search on Blue Sky and stumbled on this MAGA pairing of Pete Hegseth and Montana Senator Tim Sheehy.
SEPARATED AT BIRTH: Pete Hegseth and Tim SheehyOther pertinent information: Both MAGA, both unqualified to serve, and both liars and cheaters.

We need a musical antidote to the MAGA malakatude:
Thanks, Ella.
Your Basic Basie: It’s time to move the Count from the back burner to the:
Have I told you lately how much I love Count Basie?
Classic Movie Trailer: October looms, which means it’s time to post a spooky trailer for one of my all-time favorite films, Rosemary’s Baby.
What’s not to love about a film co-starring my countryman John Cassavetes?
Grading Time: I give Rosemary’s Baby 4 stars and an Adrastos Grade of A. It’s a stone cold classic.
Saturday GIF Horse: We give you some satanic selections from Rosemary’s Baby.

Satanism is stupid even when its chanted by Roman Castavet AKA Sidney Blackmer.
Toon Time: A toon that could be called When Tricky Met Kash:

Nixon also had a drinking problem:
Let’s close down this virtual honky tonk with some more music.
Saturday Closer: Ready for some Words & Music from the BBC? Whatever you do, don’t pass on Joe Pass, Oscar Peterson, and Count Basie.
Have I told you lately how much I love Oscar Peterson and Count Basie? I dig the guitar magic of Joe Pass too.
That’s all for this week. The first word went to The Band, so does the last word. Was that too wordy?
