Cafferty: Welcome to the Twilight Zone

From Scout:

Here is part of what CNN’s Jack Cafferty had to say on the slow evacuation of Americans from Lebanon….

There are an estimated 25,000 Americans there and presumably a lot of them would like to leave. Good luck with that. Remember Katrina?

There was a time and I can remember this when Americans who were in harms way anywhere in the world would have been taken out yesterday.

Apparently not anymore. We’re still bumbling around, trying to charter boats, whatever. It’s kind of embarrassing actually.

And get this. You want out? You gotta pay. That’s right. The State Department now charges the price of an airline ticket to evacuate you, this little law passed by Congress, signed by President Bush in 2003. We can pour 300 billion dollars into that sewer in Iraq but we charge Americans to be taken out of a war zone in Lebanon. Welcome to the Twilight Zone.

Here is all of it…

UPDATE: US waives fee for evacuation
