TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — If Republicans don’t think their presidential candidates are conservative enough on important issues, Democrats are recommending, tongue in cheek, another choice: Katherine Harris.
The Florida Democratic Party has launched aparody Web site that features videos of Republican presidential candidates’ statements on issues like immigration, foreign policy, gays, taxes and others.
The idea is if they want someone on the far right on any of those topics, Harris is their candidate.
She has been a symbolic punching bag for Democrats since the 2000 presidential recount, which she oversaw as Florida’s secretary of state. Problems with her unsuccessful campaign for the Senate last year were well publicized and often ridiculed.
