I just got the chance to watch Rachel Maddow’s amazing piece about the use of racially fueled scare tactics by wingnuts. She draws a line from George Wallace to Lester Maddox to Jesse Helms to Fox News. It’s absolutely brilliant so I thought I’d share it with anyone who hasn’t seen it already:

Absolutely spot-on. Saw this last night. It’s the exact opposite of what you get from the Wingnut Noise Machine — well written and researched, no buzzwords, no scare tactics, just solid reporting…yes, from a liberal perspective, but there’s nothing wrong with opinion backed by facts.
I didn’t double check everything but as best I could tell, and I’m fairly well read on the the 60s/southern strategy/dixiecrats/civil rights era, it was indeed correct and factual. And great analysis.
However, and you guys know this too, I bet there are dozens of RWNJ posts out there today lambasting it as revisionist/insane liberal ravings.
